Last Saturday my fishing partner put my fish back in the live well after the weigh in.he was doing me a favor since i was busy weighing fish at a tourney.I assumed he threw them in the lake but didn't ask him. never the less, after smelling something funky out in my shop earlier this week today(1 week later) i discover the bass still in the live well and pretty much stuck to the bottom and real nasty. i scraped them out and cleaned and car washed and bleached and the smell is still blinding. what will get rid of this funk???

Get some good smelling liquid soap and poor it in the bilge live well and coolers flush it out with a house and next time you go to the lake put some more soap and water in the bilge

El Jigro may have been mistaken or just suffered a bad case of the brain farts....but his "buddy" put his DEAD FISH back in his live well and HE failed to make fish samwiches in a timely manner. Now he is dealing with a funk that just wont quit.I say put the thing on craigs list and move on.
scrape em up!!!

Quit catching funky fish... I say keep up the bleach and water mixture... turn you pumps on and let it circulate. Then... Rinse and Repeat.

I'm not sure if this will work but.....
To remove the smell of onions from your hands you can add salt to dish washing detergent.
I'm wondering if this will work with the live well.
I'm not sure the affects the salt will have with your livewell hoses.

I'm sure you did this but make sure you leave the live well open to air it out.
We use a product called "Odorban" in our RV and occasionally we spray it in our garbage can. It is available at Home Depot and really works. I am not sure what residue left in the livewell would do to any future fish that you catch in there.

Lemon juice or tomato juice. I have done this and it works.

Lemon juice or tomato juice. I have done this and it works. Works on smelly hands too. Although the cuts in your skin tend to burn with the lemon juice.

Just make sure after using all of these products that you clean/rinse and double rinse your livewells out before adding fish or you'll have dead fish at tour time.

Lemon juice or tomato juice. I have done this and it works. +1000 I know the lemon juice works, not sure about the tomato juice.
Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

throw a bunch of shrimp and stink bait in them and close the doors and dont forget to pull her out in the sun. you shouldnt smell those dead fish again. really though, some bleach baths and air oughta get it. good luck.
