I would not fish the border lakes without my weapon, I would not plan on fishing mexican waters but who is to say the worthless piece of [censored] would not venture into US waters.

You are allowed to have a pistol on your boat just as in your car or home. I would have one in the chamber if needed the other person is not going to say "I'll wait for you to load it before we start." if you are going to carry a gun, have it ready to use.

Oh yeah. Definitely pack some heat on Amistad. Maybe keep a deer rifle and a shooting stick in the boat. Haha! Take no chances, take no prisoners. I have a family.
There is no such thing as "too much" fishing.

I carry life preservers and don't worry too much about drowning and I carry a fire extinguisher and don't expect a fire. But being prepared is always prudent. I refuse to be a victim.

You boys go right on to the border lakes, I'll just stay where I can enjoy the sport and the scenery without looking over my shoulder all day for a boat load of 16 year old thugs with no respect for human life.

Border lakes are not the only Texas waters where you might find the needed to protect yourself. Crazy people and criminals can be found anywhere. As mentioned, it is better to have it and not needed it, than needed it and not have it.
I'm just in search of a way of not coming home smelling like the devils armpit.....

I actually know a fella who was fishing out in Falcon, and a guy calling himself a Mexican game warden putted on up (I don't know if he really was or not.) The man told my buddy that he was going to come with him, and when he told him no, the guy patted his revolver. My friend unzipped his vest and grabbed the handle of his revolver (which he wears every day), and the "warden" putted back off. That's a bad situation all around, and he was lucky that the moron was only bluffing.
I don't think a gun is a bad thing to keep around when fishing like that. Just make sure you have the gumption to use it when necessary.

Interesting, but we need to know: Who, When, Where (U.S. or Mexico side), Description of boat. We don't need more hearsay rumors. Guys who fish Falcon would appreciate more details. (just trying to get the facts, no offense intended)

This was a few years ago, as far as I understand. I think my buddy said he was just in a beat up brown boat with no official decals.
Plus, unless you're law enforcement in the area, I highly doubt there's much you can do except keep your eyes peeled while fishing on the border lakes. Plus, with Mexico, you can't expect much more than hearsay rumors rather than legal/enforcement actions or reports, since the U.S. Government won't do much, and Mexico's being controlled by drug runners.
