thats a real feat!!!

dodge tranny's suck. I assume you don't have a chip or a tune on it

The tranny was a big issue with the older dodges (12v)
They actually detuned the early 90's models to keep from frying them.

It was a concern in the early to mid 2000's, too. People seem to think because a vehicle has a 'perceived weakness' that it's a ticking time bomb and you're guaranteed trouble. I don't necessarily think that's the case with either the Ford 6.0L or the Dodge tranny. Some people have problems, some don't. I also think scheduled maintenance can prevent a LOT of the problems with either vehicle.

My $.02.

The 6.0 was not a bad motor and my next truck will have a 6.0 in it. Right now i have a 7.3 2000 and i love that truck more then any truck. The 6.0 was rushed on assembly and they had some flaws and then nobody could work on them so it became a nightmare. There are too many my counsins neighbors uncles brothers bosses penpals sister had a 6.0 and it had problems stories. But rarely people that own a 6.0 are online talking about it being a bad truck. Do a EGR delete and a coolant filter and drive em. I dont like that ford continued to put PMR's (powdered metal rods) in the like they did the late 7.3's but if your looking for a every day driver they cant be beat. If you want a race truck they will have problems.

Ive had a 96 7.3 auto Ford, 05 5.9 cummins auto, now a 6.7 auto dodge dually. The ford pulled ok but nothing like my dodges. Had to have the tranny rebuilt in the ford at 120K. The 05 was a good truck and never a problem with the tranny, but I put a DTT valve body in it from the get go and it pulled like a horse with better fuel mileage than the 7.3 ford. Now the 6.7 cummins is a beast. No its not stock, all the deletes with Black Maxx tuner and Overdrive tune for the tranny.

Sold my 7.3 for a Cummins and never looked back.. I have a 6.7 Cummins I will line up test to test against any Ford or GM diesel.. ONLY 6.7l problems are DPF related, not even the EGR system is that big a deal just the DPF.. Mines got 50k I put 49k of that on it and havent seen a single issue.. My old 7.3 Powerjoke was a different story, My buddy also just spend $4000 on his 6.0l joke fixing the egr/head problems.. I wont ever buy another Powerstoke...

Whootpy-do, I'm pushing 50k on my 6.0L and haven't had any issues to speak of. My old Ram was a different story.

A ram ain't a Cummins. This is my first Dodge, and after losing the transmission twice in my Expedition, It was time for something a little more heavy duty. I loves that 6.7 and 6 speed auto. I can live with 17mpg till the Warranty is off at 100K, then it's DPF delete and a Chip......

Pretty sure they put a Cummins in a Ram. And it wasn't Dodge's engines that gave me fits.

My bad, I thought you meant a gas burner......
So far, the only problem I've had (it was an expensive one though) was the combination GPS/AM/FM/6 Disc CD Player had the display screen go belly up. Not a lot of options based on price for a new vs price of a rebuild vs ebay....Ebay won....Then I found a place that will replace the video display. Still fairly expensive.....but not as expensive as a rebuild from chrysler.

What kind of problems did you have out of your Cummins?

Again, it wasn't Dodge's engines that gave me fits. Nothing wrong with the Cummins. I'm quite the fan of the 5.9L. But you don't drive a Cummins. You drive a Dodge Ram. If I could put that 5.9L in my Ford, it would be the perfect truck.

I got a simple dodge, base audio, manual trans, manual shift 4X4. I havnt had any issues yet, and hope I dont. That just how I view it though the more crud you get on the truck the more can break. In my family they are refered to as electric but wipers and we steer clear. I love my 6.7 so far, but like Samsonworld said with only 15K on it, it has a long long long way to go to even compare to my old half ton chevy.

my broker bought a new mega cab 2500 laramie........that thing is loaded to the hilt!

I think the mid level fords are nicer than the mid level dodges, but the larimaies are the schnit!

If i were to buy a brand new truck tommorow it would be a dodge crew cab 2500 cummins
