The best three purchases that I have made in my life were Lasik eye surgery, breast augmentation(not on me) and my power pole.

when 30 mph winds are blowing and im fishing a point without even touching the trolling motor it's worth it. It's a spot that otherwise wouldnt be fishable.

When the wind is blowing 30 mph, I'm on my way back to the ramp. I, for one, can't see the cost-benefit ratio being good enough to justify the cost of one of these. Just my $.02

Its like a structure scan to me, not really needed, but can make fishing a lot easier. I can see the use of one around cover, docks, rocks, and many more places. Find some fish in confined area and then ancor down for awhile with out spooking fish with the trolling motor. I don't have one , but will in the future. I have a 18 1/2 foot boat and I can see how it will make fishing a spot much easier, especially in some wind.
Just my .02 cents

Whenever my wallet will allow, I won't be without one (or in my current case, two). I use them nearly every single day on the water. Picking apart a weed bed, staying in one place while you cull, using it as a break instead of turning the TM and blowing out an area, stealth, and my all time favorite.... when I launch alone, I launch along side the dock and and never even get out of my vehicle (remote control). I've also won several tx where the pole was the difference. One was cranking off a hard spot in about 10 feet of water... I had the boat pegged in 4 ft and I could keep my line and just keep hitting the sweet spot. Kept culling for literally an hour of fishing and just kept getting back up to repeat the cast. Had I drifted, I promise I would have only got half the fish. It's not everything, but it's darn nice.

It depends on the fisherman. I would like one because 8 times out of ten im fishing in 8 ft of water or less. In the hot summer months may not come in handy since I fish deep. Those powerpoles are pretty tough. I seen a video of a guy driving around with the powerpole down around rocks and would take a licking and keep on ticking.

If the wind is 30 mph u would probably have more fun sailing than trying to fish.

Whether it's just beaching my boat or picking apart a dock or other cover, my power pole gets used just about every time I go out. I used mine in 25-30 mph wind and was able to sit there and catch a 2-4 lb fish literally every cast for over an hour. When I'd retie or cull, all I'd have to do was spin the boat around to face into the wind. I guarantee you without that pole, I wouldn't have been able to catch those fish. That was probably the best catching day I've had. If you wonder how durable they are, I just saw this on another site... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t02D0EfMyR8

I've got an aluminum boat and almost sold it I was getting so sick of dealing with the wind the power pole makes all the difference I can't ever imagine fishing without one now.
