I was always told to use the dark meat of a chicken, and it makes more sense since it has more oil/grease in it to carry the smell. But i could always give the breast a try.

This is NO BULL!! If you want a DEADLY catfish/all fish bait, get some deer meat that has been frozen...thawed....frozen...thawed...ripened....frozen....thawed....frozen and thawed again.

Billy Jack, custodian at the middle school, gave me and the kids a BACKSTRAP of venison. It smelled to high HEAVEN but we cut it into chunks and fished Baker Park lake in Sherman. (I think it is called "Pickens" lake.

Anyway, cats galore in the daytime from about 25 "set hook poles"...just a pole with line and hook.

Also caught big bream, a couple of bass and turtles. Several poles were twisted off or pulled from the bank.

This took place with my 5th grade students on a Saturday morning in early May. Clear sky, balmy breezes, about 74 or so degrees somewhere around 9:00 AM.

****Sun sinking low....lines baited.....gentle south breeze blowing...you realize.........I AM! .

I went to lavon on Tuesday and after getting a few crappie i decided to try for some cats and got 2 one was 20 and the other was 25lbs. It was a good day. both put back to get bigger. used shad for bait. need to get some colder temps to get the big ones going.

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I failed to mention that I release the 22 pounder. Kept the 6 because it was deep hooked with a circle hook. The 22 only had one good eye if anyone meets him in the future.

When I was in college my roomate left a whole raw chicken in the fridge. Somewhere during the summer the fridge stop working and that chicken became very very ripe (Houston summer). When I got there months later and opened the freezer that smell nearly knock me out. I could see how it would bring cats in from miles.
