I told you what to use... 1 - 3 inch baby bluegills. Those fat channels love them. If you can catch the gizzards they like those, but they don't pay much attention to the threadfins.

Is baiting legal in Texas? If I still lived by LA I would probably bait me a hole or two with soured corn, or millet. Dog and cat food (kibbles) can work too. I know of a place (plead the 5th on this one..I stumbled accross it..I swear!) at LA that is baited, and I have had a few good fish fry's off of that hole.....All eater size channel's. It was a close( to old house) diamond in the rough for crappie and channels. If you like sandies, I've had good luck trolling/throwing rattle traps there too.
They also like the baby blugills as mentioned by MR. I catch little perch at the bowman springs ramp with the cast net.More big gizzards(let throw net hit bottom), and threadfin at Arkansas ramp...good luck.

Either or. I use them live w/ a shot of red dead on them. You can cut the tail off too and do just fine on channels. You have a better chance of hooking up w/ a yellacat if you leave them alive.
