Weeds are still high and I was in flip flops and did not want to get snake bit, so we turned back. The creek is pretty wide at this point. How far back do you guys walk back or is there a better access point?
I know exactly where you are talking about. I fish under that bridge sometimes with a Chrt. Road Runner. I was wandering the same question, Maybe I can beg my mom to let me go back there.

Good luck!

I'll start fishing as soon as I hit the water. Sometimes I will walk 20 ft, and other times I'll walk 3 or 4 miles. You can park there (where the kayak rental is) or @ Lawthur.

Finally got time to scout the creek. Changed a lot this year with tons of laydowns. With the lake being low, the creek as well is lower. Looks to be about 3 ft low or so. Never got more than 50 yards from the bridge (Miller). Caught a bunch under the bridge, and at almost every stucture I hit as I was floating by them. -As long as it was 8-12 ft deep, they were there.... Also hooked a Bowfin that took me for a ride and went flying through the air about 3 foot. Water is pretty at the moment till it rains. Hopfully the cold front will bring a lot of rain..... we will see...

-Anyways, landed over 30+ crappie and all are still swimming.

So, with that said, "The Annual Winter Crappie Run" has started!!!!

what colors will work best for jigs, and can they be accessed from the bank?

Common Sense has become so rare that it should be considered a super power

-Just put it in thier face and they will eat it. There are not many shad in the creek right now. Water temps were 61 degrees. Lots of scouts and you really have to work hard and pay attention. They were biting like blue gill. There was never a "Thump", just a peck. They were hugging structure so tight, that they would bite and run, while hanging up. I had a really big crappie or a nice sized bass that had me wrapped for 15 mins. I could feel it pulling till my line got cut on the log. First time on the creek the season, and I dont know all the snags yet. So, I lost a lot of jigs on this run. I think the total was 12. 10 of them in one spot the size of a dinner plate, but it was holding a bunch of fish..... Minnows were terrible. They would just snag you before you got to the bottom. But if you managed to get it down 10 ft, you were gaurenteed a fish. If you could wrangle it out. I upgraded to 10 lb line on one of my other rods and sent a jig down, -no bite. So I put on a minnow, Nothing?.... Switched back to 4 lb line and sent a jig down, immediate hook up. hmmm...... In the 5th pic, you can see a log. I saw this crappie and just floated up to the log he was sittin under, 2 ft down. Jig didnt even get a foot and it ate it. And last week I caught some at fire wheel and towards the gunrange. just little scouts, the big schools will come. The front will be great if it rains, with cold rain. A flood would prob trigger WRC to start with some big schools moving up. While also pushing more crappie in Rowlett Creek. Bring the cold.

People are starting to catch fish at White Rock Lake at the mouth of the creek in the 10 ft holes.

Rowlett Creek Report:

Was not going to hit the water, but Rudy called ma and said the pressure was low. So i looked at it and it was way down there.... so I was off to the creek. Got there about 1 pm. Hit the bridge and caught about 10 diks and one keeper at 10.25 inches. Wend downstream from the bridge and found some too. They were anywhere from 4 ft to 14 ft. -All over the place. Kaylub showed up in his new yak and we hit a down fall 30 yards from the bridge and sat there till dark. Pulled about 60 fish from there, with about 8-10 keepers. It was almost impossible for your jig to hit the bottom without hooking up. Lost about 10 jigs again. If you didnt set the hook and rip them out of the cover, you could kiss the jig good bye. So its gettin better now. Except for the dinks. Need some cold rain. Lots of it.

Kaylub and his new yak!

-All fish released.

I have never been to white rock lake, I see the lake on google maps but I am wondering where you guys are going. On google maps it has a label for white rock creek but it seems to be really far from the lake. Can anyone make a suggestion on where to go for the creek? Maybe a street to exit on and a place to park?
