On a HB 997 do the lanes show up as big blue weigh points? Yes, and the guide lanes are marked silver.

Not doubtin' you Tim, but damn, zoom rate at 200' traveling 88' per second, gives you about 2 seconds to refresh the screen. I never screwed it down that tight at speed. Will it work? Just askin'........don't have a real new unit, Lowrance 337. Thanks, Jim Slow down!!!

last week was my first time there. Running straight out of LFM I saw one stump with a flag sticking out of it. After that i followed the boatlanes software waypoints.

500 feet is too far out. Zoom in. I rum mine at 200 feet max. "Boat Lanes" recommends 1000' to 500'. I did zoom in to 200' but sometimes couldnt see the next waypoint. And I was only going 30 to 35mph.

I found yesterday on Fork that the boats lanes on my Lowrance maps (maybe Insight) were substantially off from the bouys, but I had read on this forum that the bouys had moved off over time and may no longer be accurate. But where my Lowrance unit was showing boat lanes I was seeing stickups - can't be right? I bought the Lance Vick boatlanes chip a long time ago and had it in my glove compartment but had not loaded it. That chip corrected the boat lanes and got them in line with the bouys. Be super careful out there!

The older Lowrance maps have a lot of the timber areas and "boat lanes" in the totally wrong place. Use Lance Vick's boat lanes map card and/or use the buoys, but don't use the old Lowrance maps. Unless you like beating down the stumps with your boat to make the economy better.
Real trucks don't need spark plugs.

I hit a stump up Little Caney last weekend and it was marked as waypoint on Boatlanes. I was set on the 500ft range on GPS and DEAD on the marks. Didnt do any damage but I went back and seen the stump. Its in between the second set of trees 3/4 of the way back. Definatly start to be careful.
Good luck running Little Caney near that orange cone on the tree. NO kidding! I've run in there for years but was with a buddy and idled last saturday and hit 3 stumps. May not have hit them on pad but I'm not going to be the one to find out

I always run the lanes in that mode with the boat loanes chip and saved tracks and it works great I keep my Lowrance map up as well so my eyes stay busy. Anyone know if the HDS series has the 3d view like the bird?
