lake petrolia!!!!! wow have been there or heard about that place since man..... high school!! dated a chic from petrolia and she always took mee out there and well we all know what teenage kids wanna do!!

Has anyone been Crappie fishing lately?

I could not tell you the last time I was out...

Nope no boat!!!! But after I try the river in the morning I am taking every one to the banks!!! I read they are starting to move shallow around the other bigg lakes thT the majority of the forum go. So I am gunna check it out. I hope so, I am down to one bag of crappie!!!

I get a new newsletter every friday, some times its new good info ,sometimes it maybe something that I already know, but it should help some of the new crappie guys .It has brought a new way of looking at crappie fishing for me, more in detail.

went to the river this morning and didn't get noting but a big [censored] turtle!!! had quite a few good bites but nothing!!

just left hen bridge!! we weren't out there but 45 minutes and my son started feeling sic so we came home but again nothing!!

shouldnt they be moving back to the banks for a short period???

I still haven't been able to go with him, but my nephew is alternating (according to wind) between the river and derricks at Arrowhead. Said he and his neighbor have had 5 straight trips with fast limits and had some big crappie...up to 2 lbs on every trip. I sure need to get up there, he said I could get to the fish in the river pretty easily with my waterwagon.

you talking about the river by scotland??

Have no idea, never been to the river section of Arrowhead, but he did say there was access to the water (ramp?) close to the timber they were catching fish on.

I joined when I read this thread.
I went crappie fishing on Friday 9/17. I started late about 11 am and fished till about 4 pm. I caught 20 keepers.
Most of the fish were biting around 8ft. They were at the shallow derricks and under the Henrietta bridge. I was using minnows.

Then I went fishing on Tuesday Night (9/21) at sunset. I stayed out there for 4 hours. Caught only one crappie. I tried the derricks, shallow and deep ones, I tried the Henrietta bridge. I had the green light and the moon was almost full. They just were not biting.

I also tried fishing on the full moon on Friday night (9/24) after the storms moved through. I did not catch one fish that night. I tried all my favorite fishing spots, with no luck.


I might have to try the river entrance to the Lake like you all are suggesting. Hopefully the fishing will pick back up.
