I came within two feet of stepping on this guy. He was sitting on the sidewalk of the neighbor's house which has been vacant since hurricane Katrina.

Red touch yellow, kill a fellow. Looks like a pretty big one too as Corals go. Pretty as he is,he'd still meet the point of a d-handle shovel in my yard.

I have seen a few Corals but that has to be one of the largest. You can bet there are a few more like it close by.

Yall be real carefull not to get bit by one of them suckers. The manufactuer of the anti venom has not produced any in many years and the current supply of anti venom has had its shelf life extended to the fullest extent allowed by law. If you get bit you will no longer be able to get any anti venom and will likely spend months in a hospital on a respirator to save your life.
Coral snakes are not real aggressive at all therefore there is very little demand for the anti venom. However it is about to become the most expensive (and possibly deadliest) snake bite in the U.S.

I am afraid of only four kinds of snakes.
Big ones-little ones-alive ones-dead ones.

Corals have to chew to release their venom - they wouldn't be hangin' on me long enough to do that!
