"get numbers and call in. warden will show up or sheriff, impound boat, motor and trailer plus possible vehicle and do a little time in jail,"
You must go to some lake where the wardens/sheriff actually give a carp. Everytime i've called the wardens for no wake/ dangerous activity / keeping illegal fish / etc, they always say they have to see it even though i have the #'s. Sheriff will pull you over in a heartbeat for not wearing a seatbelt on the highway, but could give a care less about your boat being almost flipped over by some retard in a skiboat doing 40mph less than 50ft away from you.

i've never been in that situation because i didnt have a gun last time i caught somebody stealing, but they got an arse whooping they will never forget. They got a trip to the hospital and i got a trip to jail for 9 hours. $207 Oklahoma city assault and battery charge paid...WELL WORTH IT DW, You really showed them who's boss, huh? How was that little jail stay you had. Did you get to stay in there with the drunks and murderers? By the way, If you truly are a catfish guide, I hope all of your prospective clients read what you have posted here. In fact, why don't you ask them to bring their kids too so you can teach them some morals and life lessons. You won't be gettin' a call from me for sure.

[/b]yes, i did show the worthless little SOB who the boss was. I guarantee he'll never think about stealing my stuff again. Sitting with the drunks for a few hours was nothing compared to the trip that punk had. I'd do it again if i catch somebody stealing my stuff. Do you know what woul dhave happend to him had i let the cops take care of it? Well i'll tell you. The cops said since he was only 17 that absolutely nothing would have happened since the value of the stuff he was stealing was less than $600. They said he might have done 25 hours community service. Amazingly, even the punks dad didnt press charges against me. He said his son got what he deserved for being a theif. At least his dad was raised right. I used to be a catfish guide but quit guiding about 2 months ago. Too much work, was taking the fun out of my fishing.

DW, So since you caught the guy in the act, I assume he didn't get away with any of your stuff or did he? So you still beat him up and had no problem paying $207 of your hard earned money to OKC and doing jail time for it. What about that scenario makes sense? Plus, kudos to you for whoopin up on a 17 year old.
If it was my kid you beat up on I would have paid you in cash for the stuff you lost, Then, you would have been neck deep in a civil suit for my medical expenses, lost wages, assault and battery, pain and suffering, attorney fees, etc, etc, etc.
All this trouble for under $600 worth of stuff. Is it REALLY worth it?

& that my friend is one of the main reasons the kids in this country are growing up to be scum buckets ... their parents will back them up no matter how bad their behavior gets ... & like you just stated, most parents will pay in cash for what their kids destroy or steal & do what ever else needs to be done to get them off the hook ... not only will they not discipline their kids, they can't bear the thought of anybody else dealing out a lil discipline either ... that's why the kids are at the point they are at in the first place
very good post JTMAN ... it would be your perogative to "NOT" simply look your kid in the eye and say "tuff ain't it, i hope you really like the natural consqeunces to your crappy behavior"
yes very good post indeed
regards albertking catfishing is now an industry ... it's best for the industry to eat baby catfish

I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

Wow, this is like the Jerry Springer show. Any grown man who will physically assault a minor should be in jail with the theives and murderers where he belongs. Do you know what they do to adults who go to prison for abusing minors? If one of my son's were to steal someones things I would deal with them, that is my job as a parent and trust me, it wouldn't be a slap on the hand. Two crimes does not make everything ok. The kid should be punished and so should the guy who assaulted him.

I agree with you RRaider. Thank you for pointing out that physical assault is a crime and WILL be dealt with in my book.
Albert, read my post again before you get pissed off and judge me before even knowing me. Did I mention anything about what I would do to my child if they did something like this? Nope! That's between me and him and none of your freakin business, chump. I simply stated what would happen if someone took this kind of action against my child. No where did I mention I would just "pay it off" and forget about it. If my child does something like this, then I am responsible for the damage, especially if he/she is 17. There would certainly be punishment for my child's actions and there would absolutely be a suit filed against someone who causes bodily harm to my child. Get a life dude.
BJH, I suggest you not refer to me as an a$$hole and show a little class. You imply I am the reason for kids behavior today which is a bunch of ****. Why are you defending someone that put a kid in the hospital? Do you support this type of behavior DW is talking about? I certainly hope not. If so, then shame on you!

In short, don't check lines that ain't yours. Its not right and you never know who will come up and say "You in some trouble boy!"
There are lot's of places to show your kids a fish besides somebody elses line. Bass Pro Shops, te cleaning tables or your own fishing pole.

BTW..i was 19 when i kicked the 17yr old punks butt. Hardly and age differenc worth worth griping about. I'm 27 now and i'd do it again. No, he didnt get away with any of my stuff. But had i simply stopped him and ran him off, i'm sure he would have been back and trying again in a few days. If i had been caught stealing somebody elses stuff when i was 17, not only would i probably have gotten an *** whoopin by the guy i was stealing from, but as soon as i got home and my dad found out what i had done, he would have given me a 2nd *** whoopin and told me i got what i deserved. I guess some people just dont think stealing is wrong and that the theif should just get a little slap on the hand.
