If you think Mextroplex lake waterlevels are bad now, they may improve but Lake Fork is about to join them as a water resource for the city of Dallas. They're installing a 7 mile pipeline from Fork into Lake Tawakoni.
The notes from the night the motion was passed are here. I'll try to find more on this, but that lake could be in big trouble.

This was brought up a couple of years ago when Tawakoni had a fuel spill in one of the feeder creeks. The pipe line plan was exposed then.

Thats OLD news smile That pipeline has been hooked up for a long time...I think it went in 2 or 3 years ago.

From my understanding the water from Fork ALL has to be pumped uphill and is by far the most expensive water to pump. Fork would only be a backup...

If anyone is truely concerned or have questions, Don Hampton from the Lake Fork Fishermans Guide...he has more information then anyone I know.

Just as Cameron stated, the pipe has already been constructed. It was constructed about two years ago.

The substation needed was just recently completed by Wood Co. Electric Coop and they still have to complete the transmission line.

It's still a work in progress. The good news is that the public ramps were built to handle a big drawdown of the lake, and the private marinas can always construct a new ramp and dredge a lane in if they have to to avoid being left high and dry.

Old news.........pipeline is not quite ready to go into service.........however when they FILL the pipeline Lake Fork will drop ONE (1) FOOT ! Its a 15 ft diameter pipe that you can drive a truck through.

I believe it is scheduled to go into service the latter part of 2006-or early 2007.

Uphill? I always think it is funny when Texans talk about hills.

They will pump the water when everything is ready, no doubt. I just hope the water doesn't drop too much.

Eh it isn't 15 foot, 7 or 8ft...I stood in one of the pipes when the pipe was on the shoulder on highway 17.

A customer that is an engineer dispelled the 1foot rumor. He put a pen to it and it was just under 2 inches...

Taken from the Sabine River Athority web site:

Quote:
Construction of the Lake Fork Reservoir was funded through a water supply agreement with Texas Utilities Generating Company, Inc. (TUGCO) to provide water for municipal and industrial uses. TUGCO and the Cities of Dallas and Longview have contracted for purchase of water from the reservoir and several smaller municipalities and water supply corporations are making plans for future use of the water. The reservoir's storage capacity at the 403 foot m.s.l. conservation pool level is 675,819 acre-feet with a minimum firm yield of 188,660 acre-feet per year.
Sounds like that was the plan from the git go 30 years ago.

Well, I'm relatively certain it will be what it will be. Pretty much the same size pipe is running out of Ray Roberts. Whats up with that?
