Yer preaching to the choir, jignpig... Lake Austin residents and ol' Mary Gilroy of CoA just want it gone, Gone, GONE! No matter what it takes, as long as it's not herbicide or harvesting... Anglers have expressed CONTROL NOT ERADICATION, but that pretty much fell on deaf ears. Surprisingly, TPWD denied the second permit for 6400 more, for now...

Hydrilla is not a native species, is invasive and will choke the life out of all the native grasses, but ya'll don't want to hear that because the short-term benefit of a better fishery is more important to ya'll than the long-term effects of having all the native grasses killed out by an invader....
TNT, got it right I obviously meant that some of the powers that be down there seem to be leaning towards protecting CARP over our native BASS. I was not comparing bass and hydrilla, although they may not realize that by destroying the hydrilla they will be hurting the bass population too if they do not find a way to keep some sort of aquatic plant in the lake. I am very well aware that Hydrilla is a non-native plant.

Jignpig, I take great exception to your last comment...

"Please seek to educate yourselves before you try to educate others...get the whole story, not just the one side."

You were pegged for being a "borderline troll" over at the post I started in the bass fishing section where I asked for help with the Hyrdilla control on Pool. Do you really expect us to believe an avid bass fisherman does not like Hydrilla? Either you are just having fun stirring up trouble, or you've never enjoyed the benefits of hydrilla and then witnessed a fishery decimated by the eradication of that plant. Or possibly, you simply have an agenda and are biased in some way. Whichever scenario is more accurate, you have a right to say what you please, and we have a right to summarily dismiss your opinions.

I understand your argument about hydrilla choking out the native plants, but like I said in the other post that is totally irrelevant, because the battle hear is not with Hyrdilla, but with people who want to remove all that icky green stuff from their lake, whether it is Hydrilla, coontail, milfoil you name itif it has the potential to clog up their spoiled kid's jet ski they want it out of the lake.

Regarding your educating myself comment, go read the last post I made on my Joe Pool thread. I have no problems doing my homework.

Your last comment about showing one side is lame too. My entire argument was to fight against the Dallas Morning News article in which the reporter stated... "Lakegoers support efforts to kill off the hydrilla." She did not mention even once that many lakegoers love the hydrilla and are experiencing the best fishing in years on Joe Pool thanks to the grass. She has already shown the other side. Sorry TNT, didn't mean to hijack your post to talk about the Pool hydrilla problem, if Jignpig was just trying to stir the pot he succeeded in getting me a little riled.

No problem Big L ... back to the main subject, I'm still planning on doing some organization (with TxBass1820) for a protest that is highly visible ... apparently the word is making the rounds on several Texas Bass fishing forums .. TxBass1820 even heard about the Austin Statesman (I refused to use the word American regarding that liberal rag) but they want to cover it .. and like they say, any press is good press

Thats right! A gentleman called me saying that he knew a guy at the paper that wanted to cover not only the actual boat-in but promote it too, so he says!

I see my words are falling on dead ears, I'll say no more on the subject. I'm sorry you took exception to my attempt to educate.
