For those of you who are regular jug line fisherman. When setting out juglines where do you set your hooks. Or how far off the bottom or top would you position your hoods? Do you use multiple hooks or a single hook?

I start with the first hook at about 2 feet off the bottom, and then 3feet above that, and a 3rd hook 3 more feet up.
Where are you going to be setting them? I am in Travis county too...

Depends on where and when I am setting them out. I like to put them at the level the fishies are gonna be. No more than two hooks but I'm actually a fan of just one hook. Once you untangle the mess a pair of 5lb channels can make of a jug line you'll understand.

First off, I know the area that I set my juglines in, so that I know the depth there. I have 2 main areas, one is 24', the other is 28'. I will make up the main line & work the spots from the bottom to the top. Sometimes I even space where I will set the 3/0 Brass barrel swivel with two brass brads on each side with 1 to 2 inches between brad. Usually about 2 or 3' off bottom, then I will space them out according to the main line length. Or I will set them in three foot intervals. But I always make sure the top leader is at least 1 foot away from the jug. My leaders are about 22 to 24 inches long. I put 5 max per jugline. Usually I put between 3, 4, and 5 hooks depending upon depth.
If I am not going to stay on top of the jugs (run every 4 to 6 hours), then I will only put leaders on the top 3 during the summer because of thermocline.

I use these: I cut the line in 20-25 ft lengths. One pack should make 6 good jug lines. I use those clips with the swivels and toss the hooks. This line has those blue beads on the line where you can clip your leaders ensuring that they wont run up or down your line and stay spaced apart. These clips are great for baiting and for removing fish. It sure makes life a lot easier.

I make up new trotlines (cord, brads, and swivels) for every season. And definitely new hooks after this last year's fiasco. Every year, I use the previous cord & equipment (with some exception to hooks) from the trotlines to cut up & resize to make juglines of different lengths & throwlines (if I decide to set any out, after losing to hung lines with big Yellows).
We were experimenting with Tru-Turn hooks for the 2009-2010 season (Nov.-July). I decided to clean them up (wire brush the the very slight rust real good & then file the points & barbs). MISTAKE! Tru-Turn uses what they call Perma-Steel. They might fall between Zinc & Stainless Steel as to describing the metal. But they are definitely not stainless, as within a month of cold water, they were rerusting again. Learned my lesson, always new hooks at season opener. Used stainless resharpened only on jugs, if not new. New (Tru-Turn), set out in November, they do not need replacing until February or March. But as the waters get warmer, they rust much qwikker. I use a variety of at least 3 different hooks on the trotlines. We usually jot down what hooks which catches were on.
