I use it with my bait casters that have a bait clicker. the fish can take the bait and run without feeling much resistance, until I get off my duff and grab the rod. I personally think that's a great way for bank fishing.

I just rigged up mine to the Santee to try tomorrow tight lining. I think I bought the wrong float though. I bought the "Billy Boy Bobbers" has a weight on one end. I am thinking I need to cut that weight off.

If you have the line so tight you might not even need the bobber.

That makes sense. Though with the real tight line the bobber helps keep the bait up / out of the mud. (So I have been reading)

how big a float do y'all recommend? I bought some 3" floats but they seem big.

Well FYI it worked VERY well. I did not lose ANY setups. This is a helluva a lot better compared to my 3-4 a trip.
Also caught a 3.5 foot gar but I was alone and could not get him up to the bank and he ended up chewing through the line. It was exciting to hear the abu zip off. I thought I had a monster flathead on LOL.

Nope had a buddy of mine I promised I would go with his first day off. Which was yesterday and then he called off at the last minute. I am definitely going to hit one up next time around though.
