Sorry about the illness. You just gave me exactly what I was looking for. You didn't mention the weather but I have been reading that the Reds can really come alive after a storm like the one passing now. Gotta go give it a shot. Love being self employed and able to go anytime.

The weather was pretty good, but the day I left which was yesterday, the weather was becoming pretty bad. There is rain in the forecast and the waters very rough and turbulant when I was leaving. The water color was green and muddy. Lots of bait in the water too. As soon as the weather settles it should be great to fish again. I know I could have done much better if
i would have stayed. There is always a next time.

The fishing is very good now!!! Live bait that I would recommend for good results are the finger mullet for all species right now. I wish I would have had time to try some plastics to give ya'll for better results and info.

Got in another one before they close the Pass.

Drove up to an empty parking lot with a huge pipeline blocking all easy entry to surf side of the pass. After driving four hours it was going to take more than that to stop me from fishing it.

Showed up Tuesday the 7th at 9:00 a.m. on a high tide. Waves were rough crashing on me at the end as I set up my rods. Big Boys were on Fire for about two hours. Me and my friend caught several Bulls over three feet, and one big ugly using mullet. Released all unharmed.

Then it became very slow when the clouds lifted and the sky turned blue. No bait on the surf side the rest of the trip. No Trout either, no where.
Night fishing under lights was a total bust.

Next day Tagged out a couple Bulls over forty inches and caught several small Sharks....still slow.

That night a few Reds came to the lights for about an hour, Trout never showed up.

Still a good trip just slower than I expected. That pipeline really made it a pain getting the gear out there and back. I tripped on it one night and almost broke my leg.

A Undercover Game warden showed up in a T Shirt while I was landing a shark. Asked to see my license before I removed the hook from the sharks mouth. Flashed a badge, then checked our coolers at the truck while asking a lot of questions. Seemed disappointed when he did not find a violation.

We left Thursday morning with no bites and no bait in site.

Ya`ll be careful and Tag a Big One!

Hey Fishonn,

Great report!!!

Yeah I know about that pipeline being in the way andd I sure will be glad when they stop that dredging to get rid of it too.
I had to climb it over andd ovver back and forth to get my live shrimp to rebait my hook when the night fishing came about.
I guess I was lucky to have a good night with the specs.

But no luck on my part with them reds.

Wow, you most definitely got your share of fun on them HAWGS.

I like your pics an sure do like that last pic of showing us what the pass looks like. Looks very invviting for us to go back and do some more fishing lol.

I wish I knew how to post pics like yours. Maybe you an give me a few pointers on how to post mine.

My wife asked me why cant I catch them bull reds like you hahaha.

Way to go sir!!!

You can upload pictures to a host website. FishOnn used photobucket. tinypic and imageshack works to and you can resize your picture so it wont be as big when posting.

ps: you can google, "upload picture"

Decent night at the Port Lavaca Pier Friday 9-10-2010 from 2AM to 5AM. Lots of Specks and Sandies one keeper. One Huge splash of undetermined origin that got everybody excited for a while. Top that 20" Trout with 5 pounds of jumbo shrimp plenty of ice and headed back to Fort Worth. Digesting about two pounds of cajun boiled shrimp right now. Ready to go again.

I lived there for 6 months when I worked at PLFD and never heard of anybody having any luck there. That was 10 years ago though. Maybe they were lying to me. We always drove to O'Connor and waded Boggy Bayou. Are you talking about the pier at the "beach" in Port Lavaca?

Right where Main St. (Hwy 87) runs into the bay. It was really brown as you might imagine (the water). Next time I think I'll try Rollover Pass or Port O'Conner. Just finding my way around the coast. That was only my third trip down there so I am a rookie for sure. It's a big coastline and there are many choices.

TxHook'Em,

Thanks for the kind words. Yea we really got lucky on the Reds when we first pulled up. My friend jumped out of the truck ran an cast and quickly placed his Rod & Reel in a piece of old pvc pipe some one had left attached to the fence.

He then walked back toward the truck smiling and said "I`m first in the water!". About that time a Big Bull snapped the pvc pipe and took his Rod & Reel swimming towards Cuba. He then looked at me and I said "Looks Like They Are Biting!". I`m glad it was a cheap rig.....lol.

Photo bucket is the easiest for me because after you upload the pics to their site it gives you the code below it (the picture) to copy and paste in your post. The last code called ( IMG Code ) is the one that you want.

Cant wait to go back! Keep those reports coming.

You could go to I-10, head east, and turn right in Winnie.
Or you could go to Galveston and take the Ferry.
I'd take the Ferry, as long as you can go at a time when there's not much traffic.
