I've been out when it's been in the low 20's without any problems w/ ice on my guides. Heck the whole floor of my boat had a frozen sheet of ice in it at the time.

Wintertime fishing is too good to wasting time warming your backside on a fire!

I agree. We have had to bust ice before to fish and it still was better to be fishing. I'll take ice over heat any day. But the only day I hate to fish is 35 mph winds. That will send me home. Ask T-Dub and Stucky. rolfmao

Yeah, that was freaking crazy. I'm glad to be alive angel

As far as fishing in the winter, it's probably my second favorite to fall fishing. I fish all year round and you can catch some big crappie in the winter. I have fished below freezing but haven't had problems with my spool icing up. You should check out www.crappie.com as a lot of those guys on that forum live up north and ice fish. They'd have the best ideas....

Little boat + cold weather + 15 mph or greater wind = NOT GOOD!
