Saturday was consistent 12"-14" bass on the Mexican side most of the day. I also took a 5lb bass on a 1/8 ounce white spinnerbait on 6lb test Trilene. Sunday was dead. We fished the lower end of the lake and caught 2 bass each all day. Talking to other folks, they weren't catching much either.

Fish on!!!

Just got back from Amistad. Tough fishing with great top water action one day and minimal the next. I did manage to catch a 7.2 and a 6.0 lb fish, one Fri and one Sat. Most from Box Canyon and up the river. I did go to Zorro and Burro and cuts on the MX side up the river and had no issues what so ever. Border patrol everywhere around the lake (ramps) and even Game Wardens checking on the water. As Kurt said no issues in MX waters but be aware of your surroundings. As far as fishing goes, the bite when they ate, would tend to stop by late morning 10 to 10:30 am. Most of what I caught was out from the bank to about 10 ft deep. Duck weed one day scattered flooded brush the next. No real definite pattern. Big tourney comming up this next weekend and if you plan on fishing it and lauching in the Box Canyon ramp GET THERE EARLY!!!!!! It is going to get crowded real quick and you will lose a lot of time waiting to unload and that does not factor in any weather stuff. Trucks were backed up past the road entering the ramp area on Sat morning and that was pre fishing and weekend crowd only.....
PS Buy your lake permit because they are checking everyone to make sure you have bought one. In particular the Border Patrol officers.
Good fishing
