I know this is old guys but does anyone have any info on this? What are the results and is lavon ever going to get hybrids? With their priority being elsewhere (Hubbard, Lewisville, etc.) and the fingerlings being more scarce now, I doubt there will be any palmettos put into Lavon in the foreseeable future.

Come fish Ray Hubbard. The RHSA is hard at work establishing a greater Hybrid population.

That explains why the sand bass fishing has not been as good as it was 4 years ago when I started there. I think that when they cut off Texoma water supply it really took a toll on the sandies spawn. That MAY be the cause. If the lake level were to stay more constant with in 3 or 4 feet low I think that Hybrids would do good. But when it gets 10 plus feet low every year I don't see the hybrid doing good there.

Lavon needs a lot of help before it becomes a lost lake.

Hopefully this new pipeline coming from Texoma will be our savior, lavon needs hybrids, it will help the surrounding areas thrive with more people seeing it as a destination to fish

Lavon needs a lot of help before it becomes a lost lake. You ever seen the blues that come out of that lake? Off the chart large. It is still a very good sand bass lake also. The water levels do blow and being cut off from Texoma has had a large impact.

Been fishing Lavon for years. I mostly bass fish, but also sandy fish every now and then. I have not noticed a decline in the white bass. I have also seen better size the last 2 years. Striper? The last two years I have caught quite a few. Nothing big though. There is abundant forage as well. I think Hybrids would do well if TPWD committed to a good stocking program.

I seen them I know and seen the snakes to along with the crappie if you where able to go to parts of the lake I could go you would be amazed at the size of fish that are in the lake when you look at how the parks are being taken care of are I should not taken care of after a lot of years of having to pay where has the money gone because it wasn't put back in lavon. The water from texoma being used as a escape goat pure and simple until city's and people stop the waste is it going to help.

When the lake turned over last year, I found 7 dead floating 21-23 inch stripers. Most were right at 22 inches. I have seen them every year I'm out there, but not targetable really. I think the low water every year is not helping much. No creeks with water for the sandies to swim up. Last year, they might have had a good spawn with the high water. As for the sandies, I have not seen a population decrease and pull limits just as easy as the other lakes. Only issues is they are usually 10-12 inch fish. This year they should be 12-14 inches. It would be greatness if they would keep the power house open all year. The sandies spawn there when the water is low and back 10 years ago, I used to catch 10 lb Striper there, before the bouies went in. Catfish, crappie and Largemouth bass, are fantastic here at Lavon. It not like we r low on shad or anything. Where ever you go, there are shad balls everywhere.

1976 they stocked hybrids, the power plant most likely ran full time. Wonder what size the hybrids were after 1 year growth and what bag limit and size in 78? Most were probably caught out. Lots more boats on water 1978.
Time for a hybrid restock.
Someone start "Lake Lavon Hybrid Association"

Do you think that with the current situation, (lake temps still a bit too cold, low water levels, etc), that the PP would be a good place to start right now? There is always warm water coming out, even if its not gushing out. Do you think the sandies have started spawning right at the discharge? Or even off the point that's in the park? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

I wish they would do more with Lavon. Introducing Hybrids would be a great start...better LMB stocking would also be great. Lavon blows Hubbard away as far as facilities. Much better parks, plenty of good ramps and much better security. Other than very low water, I don't know why Hybrids would not take root in Lavon. As mentioned, there is a ton of bait fish in that lake. I mark huge amounts of bait fish while scouting all over the lake. 1976 was a long time ago.
