HB 1197c SI owners, How long does it take yalls GPS location to load on your unit after you first turn it on. It sometimes takes mine up to 5+ minutes. Ive got a 1197 at the console linked to a 997 SI at the nose. Is mine messed up or do they all run kinda slow?

no, each has their own. just linked together by the interlink box. Wesley at Proline there in Angelo hooked them up for me. I took my boat in cause my high speed wasnt reading and told him about it. He checked them and all seems to be hooked up right.

My 1197 loads in about a minute. The SI will not read at high speeds but I think you know that. The splitfire and regular sonar should though. Send Doug V. a msg on this site, he knows it all about HB's

Its located right beside unit at console. Only thing to block it would clouds, its in wide open. I wonder if the unit itself could hinder it? Cause where I like it 1/2 the unit is above it.

I have heard the interlink could cause some issues on speed....not sure.

My rear puck is on the rear deck close to the outboard.

I know right. Mine all seem to be hooked up right. Several guys have said most are quick but every now and then you'll run into a slow one. Seems like that always fits my stuff.

My 998 gps is extremely fast, I was stunned when I first turned it on. Puck is right next to the unit on my dash. I'm talking 15 seconds MAYBE. About 10 times faster than the Garmin in my car..

I have the same setup sharing a single GPS puck through the Interlink. It typically takes about 2 to 3 minutes to establish the intial position. After that the updates are fast.

Now if you just shut it off and turn it back on then it usually takes less than a minute.

now mine are fast when I shut them off and turn them back on. its the first initial establishment of location that drags on.

fishspanker- does one of your unit ask if you want to link both units together each time you turn them on?

Only if you power it down with the boat power switch and not the HB's switch

ok. only the unit on the front will ask that on mine. does the same whether I turn it off on the unit or kill the main pwr switch on the boat. Others have said theirs does the same thing, thats why some guys dont link them together.
thanks everyone.

I could be wrong about that. The front unit on mine will asked if you want to link it from time to time. I think it's on how you power it down but might not be right.

I do know that it can be turned off and on without the link message coming up
