Living in west Texas, having only one decent lake to fish w/in a 150 mile radius and getting the screws put to you by the City of Lubbock when you do so...not priceless, commonplace :p

Radtexan, Got one, went fishing all the time when he was young, now he has academic interest, guess I burned him out on fishing. But, Academic interest is good, can't complain.

Mine did the same thing David.Your right about him pursuing his education.Congrats. My son and I still enjoy Golfing together quite often ,but I cant get him on the lake more than 3-4 times a year. That is an improvement from when he was in highschool and college. He shows more interest every year banana

Whats funnier than that,my Daughter ,who never would go fishing when she was young, married a very promising young fisherman, who is now my main parterner. She's still dosent like to fish, but she's in the boat with us 25-30 times a year. woot

Ya'll have fun tomorrow and catch some!!!!

What do they do with the money? A couple of years ago, they claimed they were raising the prices at the lake, but a few years ago they got mad at the developers and refused to do anything that the developers might enjoy. Robbery, yea you could say that. When you are in our situation, you are either going to pay their prices and fish a wonderful lake, or gripe and complain and look for some where else to fish. If you have ever been in west Texas, then you know that there aren't many places that you can put a boat in the water. People like to gripe about their price, and I have seen a lot of it here on the forum. I can leave my house and have my boat launched in 20 minutes. Not too bad for living in west Texas.

Let's call a spade a spade. The city of Lubbock made many promises on how the additional money would be spent. They told us that there would be many improvements to the ramp area like restrooms with hot and cold running water, RV hookups and improved camping areas. So far we have seen ZERO work on anything resembling improvements. Money was also to be spent on navigational aids. WHAT???? The lake is not that big and what does a bouy or two actually cost??

I think the city fathers saw LAH as a potential cash cow and thought to exploit the fishermen. In the end I have been told (but can't confirm) that revenews actually went down due to reduced visitation, especially from tournament anglers. This should be available through open records laws but I don't have time to chase it. There were also accusations of some commisioners having conflict of interest issues with lake developement but to my knowledge have never been confirmed.

Unfortunately it has set a dangerous and expensive precident for lake managers across the state. And several above posters are correct about fishing out here. We have excellent fishing....you just have to travel 400 miles in any direction to find it.

Lubbock is ran by commies anyways. What kind of city with that size is still DRY? I'm surprised more people haven't died with all of the drunk college students trying to make it out to the strip before closing time. Hell I'm surprised I never died one of the 10 times we had to do it just visiting that dust bowl.
