Quick answer:
BASS is approximately 530,000 members
FLW is approximately 35,000 to 40,000 members
Simple math!
Once again:
Del Rio was not nearly as popular before BASS, and Falcon was not either. FLW and Bass Champs all had events on those reservoirs. The ESPN and BASS memberships drove those reservoirs to the public, and those stringers in Bass Champs and other events are what got BASS there.
The price tag of real estate skyrocketed at Del Rio after the first Elite event went there. And the travel to Del Rio also increased for tourism. They had it before, though not from all over as they do now. Guntersville and areas around that Alabama lake are no different in the gain they have received from the long term coverage through BASS. Other reservoirs are similar.
You all forget that FLW had those TTT and Stren style events down in South Texas before with huge catches, though the organization does not have the same type of members or the number of members that BASS has.
FLW is a smaller niche organization of true tournament style anglers who compete in BFL and Stren (older) style events and that is their market base. It was originally for the purpose of selling retail products through and mostly boats. Though that focus is changing now as Irwin no longer owns Ranger through the bankruptcy.
This is all developing. Though those memberships are more the working anglers who fish closer to home and spend their dollars competing in a region around their homes. They are not as prone to travel as the larger BASS base. They are prone to buy new boats sooner and that was the goal there, to market boats to them.
The increased popularity of Del Rio, Amistad, Choke and Falcon is all due to the exposure of BASS and of course ESPN on that television screen and 530,000 members who are not all tournament enthusiasts, though want to go catch a fish easier and a lot of big fish easier makes that attractive.
Put it to bed guys, the membership size difference is huge. Add up the other factors and you have your answer from the past. The future is yet to be seen.
