It is the agent's job to step in and make things right when there is a claims dispute. The agent works for the client! In my 15 years as an agent, I have heard a horror story from just about every company I can think of.

I actually haven't heard all that great things about Progressive. Maybe look at some of the articles and info (and company reviews!) on http://www.boatinsurance.org and see if that can help you out.

I have mine with Progressive through Bob Luellen at Worldwide Marine Underwriters. One important thing he told me is ALWAYS file your claim through the agent he assigns me too. That is the key for getting a claim done right and not getting the run around.

I filed a claim with Progressive about a week ago after hitting a submerged bridge. So far so good. Everyone I've spoke with has been nothing but professional. The adjuster was out last week to inspect the boat and get this--his estimate was higher than the fiberglass repair shops!!! $7800 so far. They are paying off like a slot machine. Thanks to the "vanishing deductible" its only gonna cost me $250 instead of $1000.

Not at all. I wouldn't accept it if she did. She is a friend that I entrust my business. She does such a terrific job I give her free word of mouth advertising just as I do with all the people I do business with that go over and above board to keep their customers satisfied.

I have had nothing but problems with progressive insurance . I filed a claim due engine compartment beign full of water . I drained the water and the engine started then it shut down. I took the boat to get winterized and mechanic said the starter was shot . We replaced the starter and mechanic said it wouldn't crank. So he suggested on contacting my insurance which is progressive. So I did. The adjuster recommended on disassembly of both heads and manifolds and get tested. They took it apart and found water in the engine . It had rusted the cylinder and rocker arms the engine is blown. They denied the claim and sent Charles Wilson of Armadillo Consultant surveyors out all he did was take pictures. He submitted report and progressive still denied the claim. While surveying the boat Charles Wilson found additional problems in the bellows . Progressive still denied the claim . I going on a little over 2 months dealing with them. The adjuster was a total bully recommended that I not contact Texas board of insurance or seek legal advise . He said I would lose in court cause progressive has the best lawyers. I tried to contact his superviser Leah Zonnoni she would not return my calls . I called and left her voice mail 8 times within 2 weeks . She never did return my call . So then I call customer service and talk to a representative and I tell him my problem. He then tells me he can't help me but he would let Leah know to call me , still she did not return my call. No one from progressive called to let me know that my claim had been closed. I found out by going online . I call back and see if they had received the surveyors report no one knew anything . Later that evening the Bully adjuster calls me and says its still denied . I ask him why ? He has no answers for me. All he said was he was told to call me and let me know they were not going to cover my boat. I call progressive the following day and speak to customer representative they have no answers . They say I will have Leah Zonnoni superviser call you. I did not receive a phone call from her superviser . I did receive a call a few days later from some guy in Houston telling me they are not going to cover any of the claim. Just a total nightmare with progressive.

I have a claim dispute with progressive since January 22 , 2012 . They have denied my claim and won't return calls . This is the supervisor there at progressive . I found out that they closed my claim by going online . They have been rude and the adjuster is a total bully! My claim is over leaving boat plug in after use then having a good heavy rain the engine compartment was full of water and ruined engine.

I changed from progressive just because it is owned by George Soros. I never had a claim in the 8 years I was with them and can see I was lucky I didn't have any.

This is another good reason to buy from an agent and not online companys. Its always best practice to have one of us on your side thumb

The insurer is only as good as the agent. That's why I use Bob Luellen.

Like stated by many above (most of them well respected on this forum) don't look at the company as much as the agent. If you're shopping strictly price then guess what you're going to get "screwed" at some point. We have expensive toys and they aren't cheap to insure. Find a good agent that writes the correct policy for your needs and you should never have a claim issue (say should just b/c no agent/company is perfect)
