I recently got back from a Minnesota vacation where I got to smallmouth fish on lake Mille Lacs. Bottom line: one of the best fishing times I've ever had. I've been researching smallmouth stocked lakes in Texas and find them few and far between. I was wondering if anybody has any luck catching smallmouth on Whitney or Grapevine? I want to know if it would even be worth my time to try.

There are a few caught in Grapevine every once in a while.

Whitney has some great smallmouth fishing, but because of the frequent fish kills it's not always consistent.

There is a good smallmouth fishery in Bridgeport.

Texoma has some of the best smallmoush fishing in the state.

yea i dont think the vine has a fishable population yet...TPW has been stocking them pretty heavy for the last few years and some people are starting to catch a few here and there...well see here in a couple years...texoma has some nice smallies though and it is not too far from the area

I've only fished Lake Bridgeport myself once, but I caught one on my very first trip. West wide of the lake, clearer, colder water, rocky points jutting out into the lake.
