Let me start by saying NOTHING made me madder than having to drive under the bridge on Ray Hubbard at idle speed due to the no wake bouy's. However, after having been at Cedar Creek a few times since the new bridge went up in Caney I completely understand why they bouy'ed the RH bridge.

I'd say 75% of the boats I have seen go under the bridge were running on pad and alot were close to top speed. The thing that gets me the most is the number of parents I have seen pulling their kids on tubes, wake boards or ski's under the bridge on pad!! Am I just being a kill joy? I called TP&W this morning and it is legal to run on pad under bridges and they have no control or say so on where bouy's are placed. It's a county or state matter. Should I keep working on this or just let it go?

I've heard the opposite, I've heard it is illegal to run on pad under any bridges........

Can anyone clarify this?

i talked to a guy at TP&W (a sargent) and told him i had heard the same thing, but he verified that it is legal to run under bridges on pad unless they have bouys.

+1 or posted so.

Its up to you to run on pad under a bridge, and yes some people dont think about the safety of there children all the time.
I myself slow down approaching a bridge, even if its not buoyed off.I had a near collision years ago with a flat bottom one time that came from the shadows out of know where in front of me,i never saw him,and i was looking. So you make your own decision.

No way I will run on pad under bridges anymore but will readily admit I used to do it at Fork before they made them no wake areas.

That said pulling a tube or skier under a bridge is insane...you would have to be a complete idiot to do that and risk someone hitting a piling.

Thank you, but the reason I asked is because there was a discussion on here a few months back in relation to tournaments. It was stated in that post that people were breaking the laws by running on pad. Thank you for the clarification.

I'd still like to see the specific laws regarding this issue, and I can't seem to find them in the Texas Water safety act. In fact I can't find anything on bridges at all.....

the officer i spoke with said it was up to the state, county or possibly the core to set bouys. i have always thought it was illegal to run on pad under the bridge as well which is why i called tp&w.

about 10 years ago a guy was running on pad under the katy bridge at whitney and either hit a floater or on instinct tried to avoid one while passing under the bridge. he is not around to clarify what exactly happened....

Funny you bring this up - launched @ the public ramp next to that bridge last Saturday morning - my 1st time on Cedar Creek. I witnessed what was probably a club tournament right after blast off where at least 12 boats went under that bridge on plane - full speed - found that quite curious myself.

I have witnessed the Game Warden at the new bridge run down a boat pulling kids on a tube (Probably around 6 or 7 years old) and a jet ski pulling a tube throught the pillers. He told me he pulled them over to check for open container, somebody would have to be dringing to put their kids in danger like that. But as far as the law goes, it is whatever. I guess that is until a mishap occurs, which is just a matter of time at Cedar Creek. Sad but true.

Thats funny because they will ticket you on Limestone for running the bridge. I allways heard/thought it was illegal to run under any bridge that didnt have a "span" (not compleatly sure what that means, just what Ive heard) or one that was not a certain hight.

I fished CC last Saturday (Media Team Tourny) and we were instructed by the TD to idle thru the bridge. We were boat 19 and everyone I saw idled under the bridge. However, later in the day we were fishing the bridge at column line #6 with another boat (a family w/ wife and kid in the boat) tied up to column line #7 when a guy in a pontoon boat running faster than any pontoon I've ever seen went right between us. Luckily for me we were far enough away from the columns that I could kick the tm on high and keep from banging into the columns. The family boat couldn't and they took a pretty good beating. He was HOT and wanted the guy to come back thru so he could hook him. They need to add bouys there. People aren't smart enough to use common sense.

It is legal as long as it is not posted. It is dangerous to say the least. They put that bridge in to allow big boats to get to the new housing additions going in on the creek side of the Caney Arm. They ruined one of the best Crappie bridges and opened it up for idiots to get into that arm.

I run under that bridge on pad everytime I am there....I follow all laws whether on the road or on the lake....if its idle only then I idle...if there are people fishing under it I go under futher away...if its not safe I slow down to a safe speed even if its idle speed...that new bridge is so tall and the spans so wide I see nothing unsafe about going under it on pad...I don't remember seeing too many boats fishing under it anyway. I try to treat others as I would like to be treated....I don't slow to an idle if someone is fishing the main lake..I give them as much room as I can and continue on my way...same thing at the bridge...my opinion for what its worth....
