This is JMHO, but I have always felt that the mods have never been as... tough... when people start fights. seams to me if they would nip it in the butt when it starts, people will get the message that we don't want drama.

We should have a competitive Fish in Like Dallas vs Houston or Emma vs Town lake or something to that effect. Getting enough people to do something like this might be tough. Also the lakes will have to be close to the same in producing fish. Maybe the Competitive nature in us will get us to fish together i dunno.

CAG has this great event called the Carp Anglers Group Invitational. Its a fun/competitive event like you are suggesting. more recently its an excuse to argue and call other states cheaters.... but the concept is sound. Perhaps a TFFI ? LSCBI ? Where we compete for bragging rights between different locations in Texas? Basically multiple fish in's/get togethers at the same time with some competition mixed in ?

I suggest you mix it up. Have some fish-ins in the different geographic areas, and a some competetive events.

I personally do not like competetive events, I like myself more when I am just taking it easy
I will agree with Zach. my favorite fishing trips were in the early days when we were all just working together, helping each other out, teaching each other the things we figured out. And then later, teaching new carpers. Zach's Grass Carp Roundup sounds like a lot of fun.

But I know a lot of people like tourneys, so....

I think it is indeed time for a "reset" the problem is that those with attitude problems also have to "reset" and commit to being a productive part of the carping community here on the TFF. And the rest of us have to commit to not rising to the bait. Once it cools off people will fish and that distracts some. From my perspective we're only talking about a couple of people. And from an earlier post they know exactly who they are. I agree with GG that the mods need to make it 100% clear that poor behavior will not be tolerated. I think those that cannot control themselves will understand that this is not the place for it and either fix it or go away. This is separate from the need to have an old fashioned fish in, or an invitational type competition. Those are for the people that WANT to get along.

Do what now? Team Jack@ss lives forever, and when we're gone, someone else picks up our mantle. We still fish, I just got lazy and don't post as much about it very often anymore lol.

NEVER.....in my most vivid imaginations.....would I have thought that CARPERS were so sensitive!

All my life I have seen carpers fishing in the pay lakes of North Carolina, three stout cane poles rammed into the bank, big wad of cotton-fluffed mush on the hook and another ball of mush attached to the line to signal a "bite"!

These guys would sit in a cane bottom chair and while away the time about: how hot it was, how slow the fishing was, who has a chew of Red Man, Ok I'll use Beechnut this time, your last pole just got a nibble.........and other such things!

WHAT AN EVOLUTION! I suppose carping has evolved to such a stage that the term "carping" has taken on a whole new meaning!

Does anybody just......fish for carp any more?

Can't we all just go fishing? Seriously though, Ive been here since last september and it seems to me that what others have said is true: There is a pattern to this, extreme weather makes many people fish less, and so they look for other things to talk about. Anyway, I agree with gg, I think some things are allowed to go on much longer than needed. I have probably been guilty of ting off too many people with my sarcasm, and though I have publicly apologized before I will do so again. (Insert apology here).
