wow nice prize! I'm in.

John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

This is great stuff. Just one of the many reasons I joined this forum.

I think bryan_g hit on the head with his description.

I have one, I like it

I am a part time custom rod builder, Rods By Chris. I specialize in fly rods, but just down right enjoy building custom fishing rods. I see each as a piece of art.

I was wondering if you would be getting that rod as a prize (since this forum is a TFO salesman) and the rod fit the contest name so well.
Question: im guessing the number by the fish is a point system, what is the second number? Quantity? If it is, what keeps someone from just taking 5 pics of the same fish? Just a thought now that there is a really nice prize.
I really liked the first multi species, and had tons of fun finding all the fish, any thought of just having it the same thing and just one fish per species?
I haven't done any since that first one and i'm excited to get back in it.
thanks for putting it together Brett

It is the points for the second, third, forth-100th of each species.

Yes it is possible to just photo the same fish, but two things would happen there:

a) you'd know you were a schmuck,

b) it'd be fairly obvious to others what was done, and then they'd know you were a schmuck,

c) you'd know you're a schmuck.

we're a pretty tight group of people on txfishes.com (and here on the tff) I don't expect cheating to be an issue. I do expect mis-identified fish to be an issue, but that is always sorted, and with 3 amateur fish id experts and 2 biologists at our disposal, these things get sorted.

Just curious... will people who don't fly fish be able to participate too? meaning throw one with split shot on a spinning reel?

Not this time.

This one requires the same fly fishing requirements that the state of Texas does for fly records:

Fly Fishing Equipment
1. The lure must be a recognized type of artificial fly. A fly may be dressed on a single or double hook or two single hooks in tandem.
Treble hooks are prohibited. The use of any other type of lure or natural or preserved bait, either singularly or attached to the fly, is pro-
hibited. No scent, either natural or artificial is allowed on flies. The use of scented material in a fly is prohibited.
2. The rod, reel, line, and leader equipment used must be designed for fly fishing.
3. Casting and retrieving must be carried out in accordance with normal customs and generally accepted practices. The major criterion in
casting is that the weight of the line must carry the lure rather than the weight of the lure carrying the line.

Of course, in our case, the while double hook thing is a nono, but that is a separate ball of wax.

You're going to be in school right? Cause that's gonna help the rest of us out :P we can't have you fishing all day! It won't be so easy this time!

When do we get to know the guidelines on the clouser? I'm ready to start working on some. I have a few ideas that I think might be able to score some big points in the right place.

Does it have to be bucktail? Or can synthetic hair be used? Or how about a different type of hair being used (I've seen fox used for small clousers)?

Should it be limited to single hooks only?

How about something like this:

MUST have:
- dumbbells - can be any material but must be dumbbell shaped (coneheads, etc. not allowed)
- hair - body and wing must be hair, synthetic allowed, but feathers are not allowed.
- the top tied over the eyes - I'm not sure what this means
- Be designed to ride hook point up.

CAN have:
flash
paint/glue
any thread
any hook - must be a single hook any style, but tandem and treble hooks are not allowed.

This sounds like it could be fun.

Rex
