Uncertain General Store & Grill is a place to eat, they have all kinds of food and the alligator tail is awsome. they also sell adult beverages...the lady that ownes the place her name is kay and she also runs a hotel but i cant remember the name of it...and the true story about big pines is the owner "mrs. betty" died like 3 maybe 4 years ago and she left the place to her god daughter...she had the huge house right behind it, anyways she ran it for about 2 years and sold it to move back to austin and the new owners had it less than a year and some how it caught fire...seems alot of restaraunts out in the caddo area burn to the ground lol

DPD...Mr. Williamson passed away well before the fire. Miss Betty (his widow) continued to operate with her niece. Miss Betty passed away and Big Pines was sold by the niece to another family. They were operating Big Pines when it burned. Thay had decided/planned to reopen but the high cost of installing an aerobic system to serve 100 + patrons at a time was more than they could afford....a new place has opened just down the road which claims to serve the Big Pines recipe coleslaw and hushpuppies. Don't think they are quite there yet...Big Pines was the best catfish/slaw/hushpuppies around..

BIG PINES was the BEST ever! I had gone there since I was a pup in about '78. I last visited in 2006 and it was still great and what I remembered.

RIP BIG PINES

Uncertain Grill in Uncertain, Tx. at Caddo Lake (NOT same as General Store in Jefferson!) can be a dangerous place when its busy. Friends of mine were there once when the owner went nuts and called the cops because a guy asked for tartar sauce. She went off and was screaming that this guy and his kids had a gun and she wanted him arrested. Apparently not the first time shes done something like that. Food is overpriced, too.

Just to update a little on old news.
Big Pines was not and will not be rebuilt.

I made a trip to the new establishment, River Bend, a few weeks ago. They may have the best food on God's green earth but their service sucks. You have to wait to be seated. So I stood there as 3 or 4 wait people ran back and forth in front of me without so much as a howdy do. The lady at the register was on the phone. when she got off I asked about being seated and she said some one would be with me. So I waited some more. Still the same runaround. I finally got tired of being ignored and started out the door. Some guy in an apron came out of the kitchen with an apron on and asked if he could help me. I just told him what I felt about being completely ignored and walked out.
I mean the place was not that busy. At least tell your staff to say hello and we will be right with you. End of rant.

I can't say much about Uncertain because all the places that used to be there are not there anymore. The flea marker has signs for a snak bar but it's closed. There is a new store/restaurant(?) on the right as you make a left at the stop sign. I had a chopped bbq that was fair but carried no bragging rights.

It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.... W.C.Fields

I know a little about a lot of things but not a whole lot about anything....CGD
