Thanks for the kudos guys. This particular LMB was a full 1/4 inch longer than the certified length of the existing Brazos River Water Body Record for that specie. However, it would have to go over 9.61 pounds in weight to beat the existing record. It simply wasn't a double digit fish, IME.

Thanks Bob. Georgia Rivers are full of fish. I have become facinated with the Shoal Bass in particular. Kayaks are the ideal way to pursue bass in a small riverine habitat, IME. As far as powerboats go. I have a saying... "Fish the river from a Yak and you will never go back".

Bob,
I fish in Rivers, small lakes, and also I fish a 36,000 acre lake called Cedar Creek Lake. I don't fish tournaments but kayaker have their own tournaments and also you could us your truck as long as you park close to transport you to another part of the lake. I virtually spend nothing on my fishing as I catch shad with my castnet and of course no gas in the kayak so I can afford to go fishing as many times as I want.

Hey yak'n...what do you consider the middle/upper brazos? I'm new to Texas and still trying to figure out where is "Central" Texas or "south" Texas, or "east" Texas, etc. I live in the BCS area, and have been wanting to do some fishing on the Brazos and/or Navasota. I'm from South Carolina, and we fish rivers a LOT back home, and folks look at me like I am absolutely retarded when I mention fishing rivers out here. Looks like there would be plenty of fish(i.e. bass and panfish) in those two rivers, and nobody fishes them.

Welcome to Texas! The Middle/Upper Brazos River is the same river but broken into three sections (middle/upper/lower) as the Brazos River Authority defines it. The BRA designates the Middle/Upper portion of the Brazos as being between the portion to the North just above Muleshoe, Tx and South down to just below Taylor, Tx..

So the Brazos around here is the deep south of the Brazos??
