Get some PVC pipe and cut one end at a 45 degree angle, Drill some holes in the other end, put a rope through the holes and you have yourself a stakeout stick.

My scupper holes are really small, so I'll have to work on some options for that.

I guess I'll keep my opinions to myself so I don't get accused of being a whiner by people on the internet that whine about people whining.

Stop your whining about those of us who whined about those of you who were whining. argue

You can attach a stakeout stick anywhere you want. It's just a way to tether your boat while wading off-shore. Put a carabiner on the other end and you can clip it to anything. Jab the stick in the bottom and just wander off to fish. The boat stays put.

hmmmm... sit high yet paddle with your feet while casting.....in a kayak

There's a SOT yak that has

- high deck right behind the seat so's you can sit there and sit high

- a sleek and clean and snag free seat that functions as a perfect stripping basket when 'perch sitting'

- a wasps waist section below said high seat so's a fellows legs can drop down and swimfin paddle the yak like a floatie or tooner

This 'duck walk' feature will be included in the next wave of high performance fishing yaks, ( the design feature has just has yet to be incorporated, except... sigh... once again, in my mind )

Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

Hey otherSteve !

Yup, 'duckwalking', I thought it up myself and although I think it is stupid name from a marketing standpoint, it'll stick.

Folks 'll be talking about duckwalkers in, oh the year 2016, or 2013 at the soonest...

Anyway - See Ya later... DORK !

There are some good comments from the above threads. If you are a mature fly fisherman ( I am one 64) my balance is not what it use to be.
Get a kayak that's has a 30" beam. I have the Native 14.5. Here around the Rockport/Aransas Pass area we sight fish for reds and have to stand to see the tails. We use a push pole for 1' and under. I use a 10' closet pole from Lowes.
A lot or most of the time it's hard for me to get up in the yak. I use a small cord rope tied to the from corss bar to help me get up and then no problem casting .
Before I retired to Rockport I fished Fairfield Lake. I miss that lake.
Good luck with your kayak and as always there are good post and thread to help you.
