well i have only lived in the area for 2 months and have not fished any other lakes besides Lake Worth b/c it is on the base that I work at. I have caught my limit of keepers on EML for 6 trips in a row now. Nothing really big, every time I go I usually end up with one or two B/W 3-5#'s. The other 4 are usually 1-2#'s. I have found out quickly that there is no real pattern to be established. It is hit or miss fishing the deep grass. I have not caught a single fish on CB. A few here and there on SB. My best advice is to go out before the sun and throw top water for 3 hours then call it a day with what you have. It isn't worth it to stick around after 0900 to cast and pray. Make as many casts as you can in the first 3 hours you are there and go home and save your gas. As far as locations go, I run clear across the lake and fish the north side. I have caught more of the 3+ pounders on the north shores. G/L to you in your future endeavors on the lake. Personally, I am looking forward to finding a new body of water with bigger, more abundant numbers of LMB to fish on the weekends. If anyone out there can share some tips on fishing CB on EML PM me and share your insight. CB is my favorite type of fishing but I have not had any luck at EML. I'm calling bs on this entire post.. Ive been fishing the lake for over 10 years and have never put together back to back days with five pounders, much less 6 in a row.. Oh, and the deep grass you speak of? Seriously? Sorry, but I really think you need some new batteries in that scale...

You can find grass on EM, go to the cove on Monday mornings and there's usually some floating in baggies.

Got no clue how to post a pic. I can email it if someone wants to post it. make a photobucket account(its free), upload it to photobucket, and post the image code on here and it'll show your pic. and as for cajunmarine, im calling bs also. ive fish em consistently my whole life and never caught 5lbers left and right, and i know people who are in their 60s and fished em for nearly a day or two every week of their lives, and they have never consistently caught fish 5lbs out of em.

wow didn't realize people here were so nice. IF you would read, i never once said i caught a single 6lb fish. i said the largest was 5. Also stated very clearly was that i usually only catch one or two worth any size when i fish there. the other 3-4 "keepers" are right at the min size limit. As far as "DEEP" grass, i was simply referring to fishing the outskirts of the cattails. the deeper side. i haven't had any luck getting the nose of my boat deep into the grass and pitching in the thick parts. Sorry if my terminology is incorrect. didn't mean to offend all the hard core fisherman who get upset over a rookie such as myself not knowing the difference in deep grass and fishing the outskirts of cattails.
Seriously guys, i am not trying to be a smart [censored]. i am just a US Marine stationed in the are who loves to fish. i feel honored to have the opportunity to be stationed here in Texas and be able to fish on the weekends as compared to 2 years ago being in a foreign country being shot at by insurgents on the weekends to defend everyone elses right to be able to do this year round. Sorry if i offended anyone.
Actually, the reason i signed on tonight was to ask advice on learning how to catch fish that aren't up on the banks early in the morning time like i have been catching. I have tried learning how to fish deep with no luck. I can't really afford a 3000 dollar SI Sonar to help me find fish and would really love to learn how to use just my GPS and depth finder to help locate and catch better fish in the deeper parts of the lake when we are in the dead of summer as we are now. If anyone out there would like to share some tips with me i would greatly appreciate it.
As far as the Tuesday night fishing tournaments, i would love to enter and fish them. Personally, having only lived here for 3 months, i haven't really gotten any friends to fish it with so if anyone out there who regularly fishes the tournament would like a partner, i would be glad to help out with costs and fish the tournament with you. We could even use my boat if you would like but i must warn ahead of time, i have never fished for bass at night before. i grew up on the Atchafalaya basin in south LA where stumps were very abundant so we didn't dare run a boat at night when you couldn't see.
Again, to all of you who may take this post offensively, i mean no harm. didn't mean to offend anyone. i am simply just a man who loves to fish as much as the rest of you.
Some men go an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem... President Ronald Regan
