OK ... I have an issue with vibration. My wife has a disease that too much of that causes her a great deal of pain. So I would like to get a tow vehicle that has a smooth ride. I currently have a 2002 Ford F150.
What do you have or have heard of?
Thank you in advance.

Try one of the mid size suv's with independant rear suspension like explorer or expedition, they should be smooth riding and be able to tow the boat, however not a truck.

First off I can understand I had a friend that suffered with chronic back pain from a surgery gone wrong until his death. I can't stand to see anyone suffer. But to your dilema first off is it safe to assume that your looking for a general vehicle that will double as a tow vehicle for the boat? I can't imagine her being able to ride in a boat past idle speed only, especially since it's difficult to ride in some street vehicles. Secondly considering your bank roll and how much your willing to spend. If that isn't a problem then consider a full size SUV with a ride stabilization/suspension control such as the Navigator or high end Expedition or Expedition XL. Same as the Escalade or high end Tahoe/Suburban, key here the longer wheelbase better the ride, more pain to park. Next if your on a little more conservative budget then yes consider a new 1/2 ton 2WD crew cab pickup be-it a F150 or what drive one and you will know. I have personal experience as my Dad of 79 years of age just purchased a 2010 F150 Crewcab and the difference in ride compaired to my 97 Supercab is night and day but then he also has a 97 Lincoln Towncar that does as well that has the ride stabilization/suspension control. I don't have to much first hand experience with GM other than riding in my uncle's Tahoe but they seem to be smooth as well and sure the technology would be passed to the 1/2 pickups as well. Good luck in your search my friend prayers for your wife to find comfort.

The redhead has some chronic conditions that cause her alot of pain on bumpy rides. I have a V6 Explorer with slightly upgraded suspension & she's comfortable in it unless we hit really bad roads. Take a look at v8 Explorers that are factory equipped for towing & test drive one of them with her.
Parenthetically, she also goes fishing with me when the weather is fairly calm & not too hot.

I have 2010 Tahoe 4x4 pulls my boat great, rides like a la-z-boy and handles like a Lexus.

Good luck in your search my friend prayers for your wife to find comfort. She has RSD which is extremely painful, she is always in pain, cold, wind and vibration will cause it to get worse. She take drugs everyday to try and maintain a level of little pain. So it is touchy as to her being in any car for a long period of time. By necessity she ends up in my truck upon occasion. I want to do what ever I can to keep her from getting into worse pain. I would like a really nice riding vehicle that could tow my boat, but I think that is hard to find. So the best riding tow vehicle, all of the choices are good for to me to check out. I appreciate the ideas.

Check out the new Dodge 1500 trucks. They have coil springs instead of leaf springs in the rear end and the ride is phenomenal. Tows my 4500 lb. boat like its not even back there.

Check out some smoother riding tires for your truck. The Honda Ridgeline would be the smoothest riding truck. You could check out the Dodge.

The Honda Ridgeline would be the smoothest riding truck. The only problem with that is, it isnt a truck. Or at least doesnt look like one. I test drove alot of trucks when i bought my 2006 F150. It was the best in ride and comfort. I purposely hit bumps in my test drive so that i could see what it felt like. The Chevy just didnt fair as well on ride. I didnt give Dodge a chance.

Every thing is a compromise in order to get a smooth ride you have to give up capacity. I buy trucks for their intended purposes. You have to understand that in order to improve the ride you have to soften the suspension and hence the load carrying and trailer towing capablities. It is like complaining about a performance car's ride. You cannot get good handling and the smoothest ride. This is not to say that a smooth riding truck is bad or does not exist.

Well whatever you do, don't buy a 2008 chevy 2500 4x4. This is the third 3/4 ton truck I have owned and it feels like I am going down the road on horseback.

Get a GMC Sierra Denali. Closest thing to a Cadillac pick up you can get.

I dealt with the same problem two months ago. The wife broke her pelvis and had a back operation last year.I had a 2002 Avalanche 2500 and wanted a regular truck. The wife and I spent an entire weekend driving every truck brand from dodge, gmc, chevy, and ford. We drove all the top end models and the end of the weekend she looked at me and said none of them ride as smooth as the avalanche. I found a 2007 avalanche lt with low miles. In 2007 the avalanche went to a new frame and the difference in ride is remarkable. The wife can ride for several hours without discomfort. It pulls my 20 foot pontoon with power to spare and gets twice as many miles to the gallon as the 2500 used to get.
