I have been looking for reels and have narrowed it down to a 6000 within my budget or a 6500c3 that is a little out of my budget and I will have to save for a while longer. Both are new and I am curious as to what the differences are. Does any have any experience with these reels and is it worth the wait to get the 6500c3 or just go ahead and purchase the 6000?

I have some of both models. I've had no problems with either 6000 models and have caught big blues with both. I would go with the 6000 if its in your budget.

Unless you are into long distance casting, the 6000 should be fine.

I have both models too, and both are fine reels, and if anything goes wrong with them you can get parts for them, the C-3 is a better reel, I don't know how much you are paying for either one, but most of the ones I have seen in the stores are pretty high, there is nuthing wrong with the 6000, just make sure that which ever reel you buy it says Made In Sweeden on the right side, I have heard that the BCX reels are junk and you need to stay away from them!!!

Here is a place that you can order a 6000 pretty reasonable!!!

The 6000 is $60 and the 6500c3 is $80. It only $20 difference but times are tough and it was hard enough to convince the wife on a $60 reel. I was just wondering if there was a big enough difference cause I would have to wait till my next payday to get the 6500c3.

if you're talking about the 6000bcx don't do it because those are junk reels ... if you're talking about a 6000c model (made in sweden) then the only difference between that and the 6500c3 is the bushing that's in the spool where the c3 has a bearing but you can get bearings for the 6000c model from http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/CTGY/AbuGarcia "code:kit677"

they're the same bearings that abu uses in their reels ... the 4x10x4 is the size that goes into the red 6000c models ... last time I purchased them they were about $15 for 10 bearings

If I aint mistaken other than what Tiny said...... The 6500 holds a little more line capacity & has a bait clicker........ STAY AWAY FROM THE 6600BCX OR ANY BCX REEL though. They are really smooth & feel good in your hands but they will not hold up to big fish.

the only difference in the 6500c3 and the 6000c model is the bushing and minor differences ... I think they're the same line capacity as that's what the 6 stands for ... the first number is the spool size ... the second number represents minor changes ... like maybe gear ratio difference ... the c to c3 means that the c3 has three bearings ... the c model has one bearning and a roller type bearing in the crank housing and a bushing in the spool along with one bearing on the crank side of the spool. the c model also has a bait clicker ... I think their gear ratio is the same at 5.3:1 but the c3 may be 6.3:1 ... not sure ... I'd have to look it up. it doesn't matter about any of this as this is just F.Y.I. type rambling ... the main point is like Mexicajun1 said and that's "STAY AWAY FROM BCX ABUS"

The ABU 6000's Made in Sweeden do have a bait clicker!!!

I have 4 of them, I don't know, they might have made some old ones without the clickers but the ones you can get now has them!!!

Good Luck to Ya!!!

I purchased two of the 6000's from Dunns online. They both were brand new with bait clickers and they are made in Sweden. There prices have went up by $10 a reel but they still have the best prices I have ever found.

I looked on ebay and there's still a lot of people selling new 6000's made in sweden for $59 on the buy-it-now button.

catfishconnection.com has a 6500 TC for around $80.00. It is made in Sweeden, has 4 bearings and a power handle. I have one and it is just as good if not better than my C3.
