Pretty much have everything covered.
When loading remember boats don't have brakes. Just idle slowly onto the trailer. Get a nice straight run lined up. Swing out and make a big loop as you approach rather than a small approach-turn, That leads to over correcting steering and problems. Don't get in a hurry.
best advice Practice Backing Practice at the ramp if possible during "lul" times Got to the ramp and watch folks. It can be rather entertaing actually.

Don't get into a big rush either because you'll make a mistake, +1 and be SURE to put it in park BEFORE you exit the vehicle! Seriously though, I launch by myself 99% of the time and in addition to the pre-launch routine you'll develope to suit yourself, what saves me time (and dirty looks from those with no patience)is I hold a long rope in my left hand and lightly "pop" the boat off the trailer, PUT IT IN PARK and quickly get out to either beach the boat to the side of the ramp or tie it to the pier. Works for me and I am able to get the trailer out of the way quicker. I'm kinda confused. Is this correct? While you're backing down the ramp you're holding a rope with one hand out the window of your truck and the other end of the rope is tied to your boat. When the boat hits the water, you slam on the brakes so the momentum will carry the boat off the trailer. Then you put the truck in park and run like hell to the water. Is that what you're saying? Probably just lets out slack in the rope while the boat floats off the trailer, then walks to the edge of the water and pulls the boat back to the bank or dock. By the way, the last time PePop ran like hell his wife was after him with a skillet, and that was 20 years ago.

I've been doing it this way for so many years I've learned how to "pop" the boat off with just the right force the boat just kinda drifts back slowly. I gotta do it this way cause I'm too freakin fat to be climbin over the bow to back the boat off. I'd get shot for sure for tiein up the ramp for so long.

Lot's of great advice..ony thing I would add is DON'T use your reverse momentum to unload your boat..even with help. You don't know how far/fast it will go or how fast it will come off. When you get in a hurry and do this..the dang thing is just out of control.

I unload both ways depending on the ramp and boat parking access. I've used the rope like Pepop and that is the way to go if you have boat parking close by, it's quick and efficient once you get the hang of it. I don't hold the rope though I connect to the bed of the truck. If the boat parking is where I'm going to have to drag the boat around docks, etc then I use the drive it off the trailer method. Neither take long at all once you get it down but I can promise you the Rope method will win in a race anyday of the week

I use momentum also, but always have a partner with me.

Using a little bit of backward momentum has never been a problem for me. I just ease down the ramp, and when I see the boat begin to float, just stop the truck. The boat will keep going at the very slow speed. I have not seen anyone have a problem, but care must be taken. Of course, some one must be in the boat to start up and get to the bank or dock, OR you must have a long launch rope attached to the boat and held securely on the ramp end.
