Im at gander mtn and the black 8/0 are 2 for $3. Gamas it is I could be wrong on this...but it seems that Gander Mountain is always the most expensive place to buy gear. I dont get into BPS or Cabelas very often, so im not too sure about that comparison. But in College Station, there is an Academy literally right next door to Gander. And EVERYTHING is cheaper at Academy. Lots of times I just go into Gander to pick out what i want and just look around, then i walk across to the street to Academy to buy it.

Ebay, gamagatsu 8/0 package of 25, can purchase all day long for about $12.00 shipping included. Great hook. Never tried Team Catfish hooks so do not have oppinion on their product. But would not try at that price either.

Id like to to know that myself ..still I too have used there 6/0 Jack Hammers bought them in 50 pack(actually got 52 sent to me - 13 pks of 4 hooks ea plus shipped for right around $50) and dont fell ill equipped as of yet with size or choice.Only red hooks I use are for crappie fishing or trebles for punch bait catfishing. Actually holding those T/C hook in your fingers brings one a bit of confidence. Course they dont do no one any good when you lose em or snag up. If I compare the price of a premium hook to premium ammo.......

Im sorry if someone feels I attacked them I was giving my opinion thought thats what forums were all about. If your payin $1 to $1.50 for a hook youve got more money than brains just my humble OPINION +1 but only if you're referring to regular fishing...if you're going after lake record blues and flattys then i can see the justification to spend the extra on stronger hooks.

I have caught 2 flatheads between 50-60lbs with the Team Catfish 8/0 red circles in the last year on rod and reel and I'm "hooked" on them! Have not had a problem with their hooks, sinker slides, or sinker bumpers. It's top quality stuff and I will continue to be a customer.

Those are some nice products on there and with anything you buy there is a small cost, its just like having a military service protecting this country! would you want our military doing it or some foreign country that have no sure fire power! Facts are facts and price is price and sometimes you need a big gun to win a big battle lol.......But its your preference like Jeff said. Do whats best for you and your mind set. Point 2 its like buying a Avalanche truck and a Cadillac truck same body style but pricing is different cause of the name on the truck.......But i wouldn't bet against our Armed Forces for once cent!!!!!just saying I lived it and sweated it for 15yrs so no crazy wize cracks! your all in a great country to be able to have debates like this for soldiers everywhere and i know its some retired soldiers on this forum and vets as well, cause i talk to em. So When u see a vet tell them thanks cause your able to act silly anytime and fish any place you guys want without our soil being threatened.........But i love you guys and your tips on here cause i keep getting great help from you all on here. Thanks alot

2fish4everything has a solid point. With all the outstanding products out there, I find it difficult to decide on a certain product. And sometimes pricing does become a factor when deciding what is to much, and what is not enough. Every product tells you that you will catch more fish, and you cant find a better product.
And what makes it more difficult to decide is the fact that a person sometimes can be bias to a certain company or product just for a sticker or hat they won. Thats what personally after my 6-7 year stint away from fishing I just go with my gut and 1 company at a time. until I find something that fits my fishing style and price.
IMHO without saying this company or that, hold up 2 competitors hooks next to each other. Often times the quality and the sharpness of the hook can easily be seen. Just my 2 cents.

I have never caught a fish on the team catfish hooks, fished them right next to others and no dice. When it comes to circle hooks, I fish gamagatsus and my all time fave are Owner wide gaps, best circles I have ever found.

$3 for two hooks? Sounds like a profitable sales gimmick at work.

I've used the hooks and liked them, but like most guys, I can't ignore that they are way too expensive. I won't be buying any more. I like the Gamakatsu Octopus Circles on my jugs and trotlines, but I noticed that the other day after my neighbor had helped me take the fish off of the trotline, that most of the hook points had broken off. He had removed at the wrong angle and snapped them off, right at the point. My favorite is the Eagle Claw Razor Sharp Kahle. Academy has 50 6/0 for $4.29, that is 8.58 cents each. That, I can afford. Besides, I like setting the hook on a big one instead of waiting for em to load up on a circle hook. Caught a 13 pounder, rod and reel, Saturday night, on a 1/0 Kahle, Ray Hubbard, all fish released.
