Pacu... I think you are right. I don't recall what the guy said he caught it with. They placed it in the aquarium in the office, but it did not survive long.

You guys can catch lot better quality fish if you get off the beaten trail by going across the street to the sports complex and wading the creek thats behind it.You can wade either way up or down. There are bass to 6 lbs on each end.Its very pretty certain times of the year and the old trolley rail runs over the creek. If you go right now is the time to do it.The water gets stagnant and insects grow to huge sizes by the end of summer, but in the spring the water most of the time is gently flowing and very clear. When I was a kid we would wade up each end from the community center a mile or so each way and catch 100s of small bass, channel cat and bream in one full day of wading it.Theres lots of big snakes though, but right now the water should be clear enough to watch for em.There are a couple pretty deep holes on down at both ends that used to hold some big bass as well.Lots of big carp and gar as well.Just watch for snakes.

Went awhile back and fished the little pond (skunked) and then went back to the creek. Once there I caught about 15 bream, mostly little, a couple in the 5-inch range, and a dink bass.

As I was getting ready to leave some guys came splashing out of the south end of the creek and said they had caught 17 channel cats.

One was decent size but the others probably were only about 6-8 inches. Then they started cleaning them as I was leaving and I was like really? Is it worth cleaning a 6-inch catfish? Not to mention the little legality problem. Didn't look like they were starving either.

Oh well, off my soapbox.

My family and I reside here in Burleson, so we frequent this pond a bit. We usualy catch sunfish and small catfish. My 4 year old son went fishing for the first time with us on Wed and pulled in a small sunfish within 20 min, then a 16 inch catfish 10 min after..on worms and a bobber just off the SE shore. beginners luck? Maybe. None of the rest of the people with us that evening caught a thing, but it was getting dark so we were pressed for time.

It doesnt cost anything except the gas to get you there. AS far as a license I would assume that you do but im not sure on that one.

Every one over 17 and under 81 needs a license. The only exception is fishing in lakes in state parks.

On the northeast side of the lake there is a mowed path right of way. If you walk it a little ways there is a small path going to down to the creek. It's not a hard walk so if your boy can make it with you take him to the creek and walk the bank, usually casting to far side and to any cover on that side. He'll catch all the bream he can stand. I usually do well on small curly or straight tail grubs. Last time I had two 6 inch yellow cats hit the grubs and catch small bass there all the time.

I have seen bigger fish come out of there. The creek goes all the way to Lake Arlington so you never know what you'll pull out of there and it still has decent water due to all the springs in the area.

I have used canned corn with some good success.... chum a few handfuls and then string some on a hook with no weight...

I am no carp master, might post this in the carp section they can give you tons of good advise

I have driven past several times via Hidden Creek Parkway. But was wondering where is a good place to park?

Most people park along the street in the neighborhood to the west and walk in. You can also park at the sports complex across the road and work the creek on that side.

A bit longer of a walk but you can also park at the baseball fields at Hidden Creek Golf Course and walk over.

The last couple of time I've been I haven't caught anything out of the creek. Last spring I couldn't keep the sunnies off my lures but I think the summer and fall drought hit them too hard.

With the recent rains maybe some fish can replenish from Lake Arlington.

I have been catching a couple bass from the the little pond behind the "lake" each time I've been out.
