All the images you can ever imagine are on the site below.

I agree with you Cameron about people buying stuff, not learning how to use it, then they gripe about what a POS it is even though it's their fault it doesn't work. I'm in the I.T. Dept at work so I get this a lot from my users who are clueless, but it's my fault the program won't do what they need it to do!

Look around at bbcboards their are long running post concering the leaving of Linda Colt she took care of most customer service problems.

I still think it boils down to a chey vrs ford thind.
Evert time one maker comes out with some new unit or feature the other incorperat it or better it.

That is a win win for fisherman!

One thing to look at is the Humminbird transducer is all plastic and with the size that is a big deal to me.
Lowrance the transducer mounts on a metal frame and then to a metal bracket to the boat.
It is probably just going to be prefernce. I have installed both units and this is my observation.
You break the Humminbird tranduscer and you just bought another one.
At leat with Lowrance you won't break the transducer.

I have a HDS unit, and my friend has a 1197, he has had nothing but problems with it since he's had it. The GPS keeps going out on him, at first they thought it was a connection problem, but it turned out that it was a errror in the system. I wouldn't trade my Lowrance for one, it's just much clearer thent the hb

L versus H is all about technology, leap frog technology specifically. Currently, L has leaped over H. Just an opinion.........

I have not tried - I can do 3 on my 1197. but have not tried 4. I like keeping 2 most of the time a small navigation and the rest with the side or down scan up.

Not sure why you would want 4 screens up at once doesn't make any sense. You lose the defintion of the Side Imaging and you can't watch 4 screens at once anyways.

Go with the Bird.

Download them on a SD card then convert them into Humminbird trails via the humminbird PC program. Save them again on an SD card and load into Humminbird. I had to do the same thing and Eddie@Humminbird that posts here actually sent me a tutorial that helped.

The tutorial is posted on the humminbird forum at bass boat central forums and on Doug Vandenberg web site.
I have converted my trails, the instructions are simple.
