The gap is closing, but...on bass hulls and flats boats, the two strokes will be the better choice. I've tweaked, sweated, cussed, and ran enough yamaha 4 strokes (not sho's) and verados to have a pretty good clue on what they will and won't do.

On offshore hulls, pontoons, things that don't care about holeshot and top speed the four bangers are pretty cool.
