There are no good smallies in that stretch of the river. Don't look for them when the water recedes! Again, I say "no smallmouth below Whitney". I need to change my sign-on if I'm going to stand by that statement. Riverjunky; maybe you'll get into some good fishing @ the coast!

i've caught some pretty good sized bass down there. last summer i did best right after they finished releasing. i would wade out there. sometimes stand on a rock & fish off the top of it. im going to start striper fishing down there since i learned how to catch em. Hoping to purchase a airboat. the better fishing is downstream

Up top Thursday afternoon - fishing stunk completely - and so did the sulfur smelling water coming out of the dam.
Up above 2114 all Friday early till 3 pm, we had a great time, especially catching sandies and stripers and silver drum in the current.
All this years current has also scoured the river bottom and now there is more boulder structure than ever.
And less silt and weed growth
Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.
