This is my thought. I would not have mind at all if he asked if he could fish the spot with me. I probably would have made a new friend. But if I am getting ready for a tournament, then it is a little different. If you want to fish with me, ask I am sure that we can get together and have a great time.

Pretty much the way I see it.

What do you think? Jerk or it is fair game?

jerk for sure

Well, boys. If what they do bothers you, just tell 'em. That's what FZ1 does. If they cut you off and you don't say nuthin',then it's your fault that you're bothered.. It's been a couple of years since I had and "incident".

Yesterday while prefishing on Ray Roberts I had a different incident occur. A man was fishing a row of trees in the middle of a cove as I came around the corner. I had been fishing the bank for a half mile and was just continuing along my way. He was going out of the cove and was at the mouth a good 50 yards away. I gave him plenty of room and continued to chunk a small crankbait at the shoreline of the cove. He was out in the middle of the mouth but swung his boat around and kicked up the speed in order to cut us off from fishing in the cove. I gave him the water and turned the boat around to fish out and then go across to fish the far bank. He spun his boat around and again blocked me. Thinking he was yielding the back of the cove I turned back into the cove and he shadowed. I then just cut through the cove with trolling motor on high without fishing to get to the far bank skipping the entire cove. Sometimes you can't even be in an area regardless of how courteous you try to be. He was protecting the entire cove while all I was trying to do is locate interesting cover and structure. I already knew about the treeline he was fishing and have fished it many a day years ago. I was looking for the presence of grass and shoreline cover. What he did do by over protecting the water was give me an indication that some good fish are back on the trees.

I fish all the time. I'm on the water often and occasionally have this type of incident occur. I didn't crowd him. I wasn't getting within superman's long cast of him but when he started blocking he did encroach on me. It reminded me of why I stopped fishing Ray Roberts. If I wanted to really screw him I'd post the GPS of the treeline.

Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

That was definitely your bank to fish all away thru, back, then around out of the code. It's not rude to tell the guy "Hey,I'm fishin' this bank" as you continue on. No need to "get back" or "punish" anybody, just tell 'em your intent; then do it. You can always leave,if the guy escalates to the point you are uncomfortable. But it won't bother you, because you spoke up for yourself. That's all you can do.

Good point. I gave him the cove. Giving out the GPS was just kidding. Once I saw he was going to protect his cove I left. I rarely even get into the dialog because having been on the water so much the behavior of the other angler telegraphs their answer. Too many hotheads on the lakes these days. I might have been beaned by a slab even though he moved towards me...I'm more of a pacifist.

You are too good of a guy. I've never seen anyone go back and forth to protect their spot. If I see they wanna stay on the bank they are on,I just fish the opposite bank and around toward them coming the other way. Before I get to the point that I would be too close,I then give them a wide berth and stay on slow troll, till I clear their area, then exit the cove. I'll come back and fish their bank later, after they are gone. Really, you can read the other boat and see what is appropriate. Being cutoff on a bank I am already fishing by some new arrival is the only thing that really offends me.

The guy idled directly over your tank dam to mark the spot while your still fishing it? That's beyond wrong. Not much you can do about ignorance but shrug your shoulders and shake your head and keep fishing. I guess the man had no GPS and Navioncs which makes it so easy to identify and mark areas without doing something that wrong.

Yea this is rediculous. It all comes down to jealousy/laziness/disrespect. It's just the way society is these days, everyone wants a free lunch and nobody wants to work hard to better themselves. It's also called the liberal/democrat mentality, lol.

Like it or not, I'm afraid that GPS pirates are part of the game now. It is fair game on public waters.
