Here's a small tree someone sunk on a bank with some boulders. The trunk is to the left of the top left image and the branches are laying on a boulder. Good placement.

Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

In the analogy, both hunters achieved their objective, they just used different methods to achieve the outcome. They both still used their skills to position themselves & both had to shoot straight. Neither one could be considered a "Bad" hunter.

The point I was trying to make was...whether its hunting, fishing, or whatever, most sportsman accept the conditions, as they are presented, and challenge themselves accordingly. Others might take a different path & alter the conditions to favor their goal. Both might, or might not, achieve their objective. But, as I asked in the analogy, in the end....Who is the better sportsman??

the hunter that doesn't put a feeder and just hopes to find a big buck roaming his land is like the guy who doesn't put the time in on the water (learning the lake and putting out structure) hoping to catch a big ole pig!

I don't hunt, but most my friends and family do. I don't know a single hunter that doesn't put out a feeder.

You can go to the COE Office at each lake and get a permit to build a brushpile, They want to know what type of material you are using, and where in the lake you are putting it. They do not want them creating a boating hazard when the lake level goes down

If I remember correctly, willows less than six inches in diameter were the only trees that you could use from coe property, or anything growing in rip rap

If you tournament fish, I promise your competitors are fishing man made brush/piles. This does not mean they will always beat the angler not using them. But, my experience says it does provide an edge more often than not.
Adding habitat to a "LEGAL" lake is good for the ecosystem. If you don't think so, put all of your furniture in the front yard and spend the next week sitting and sleeping in the floor.

Heres a question? What about the guy who places brushpiles and then fishes the lake for several weeks before the tourny and releases all the fish he catches on his brushpiles. When you release a fish he is gonna find the nearest cover. Do you think that would be cheating? He still has to go back and catch the fish he released.

i do believe that would be breaking the rules in alot of tournies... you aren't allowed to load a hole up

Anglers (including tournament anglers) that create their own artifical attractants I think is because they are not good enough to win without them and require this crutch to try to win. Without them, they are only average anglers. Without them, they lack confidence to locate fish consistently otherwise.
