report for 06/03, hit the lake by 4:15pm and stayed until almost 8pm. Caught 19 sandies ranging from 10-14'' good size on average today, most of my fish came on a chartreuse slab bounced on the bottom. Fishing was slow until almost 7pm and then it was every cast I would get a bite if not a fish. The bite seems to get later and later as it gets steadily hotter outside. Well hope this helps you guys out, see ya on the water. smile

Yeah, I agree with y'all that it's too much to pay to fish overnight. I have a park pass too and I use it all the time at different lakes.

It does add up to savings if you only use it for what it gives you, free day use access. I save $10 every time I go to Joe Pool because I don't pay a ramp fee. I have already been 5 times this year, plus Whitney and Fairfield. So for me, it's worth it.

I would like to see them do something for the fishermen who only use the ramp facilities though.

Hey guys I found out some really interesting information on firemans hump yesterday. I finally found out why it is called firemans hump, that area actually used to be the home to the volunteer fire dept. back before JP was filled. They used the hump (back then just a raised spot on the topography of the area) because it allowed them better visibility to any fire that may be in the area. Pretty cool huh? And here I thought that they were just being cute when they started to name the underwater lake features.

Wife and I went to the Cess Pool this morning...and got El Skunko'd.We got on the water at 8:30,tried all the usual spots, found lots of fish, and couldn't buy a bite.Went to Fireman's,outside the oasis, marked lots of fish there, off doghead pt.,and then to my trusty sandy point going towards Britton to the left before bridge, don't know what it's called, but can usually manage some 9 in.Jp specials there. We threw silver slabs,Kastmasters, chartruese slabs,Lil' Georges, trolled Ratl traps, and deeper diving cranks....nothing.Anybody else do any good?Thinking about going back in a little bit,any suggestions?
We'll be in a older black and gray Champion with a Merc on it,stop and say hidy if you see us.

report for 6/08, Wayno and myself hit the water around 4:30pm and stayed until 8:30pm, we did ok I guess we boated close to 15 between the two of us. I have noticed that the water temp has stayed around 86 in the main lake after a couple weeks ago it was 90. The fish seem to be very scattered right now, I think they may be in a roaming pattern. The last few weeks there has been NO bird action at all, it seems as though that may be more of a spring/fall pattern. As well I have not seen to much schooling either, I think the fish are moving with the bait and staying a little deeper right now. The fish we did catch came from the same places mostly on a small chartreuse slab (about 2'' long). Well guys I think if you head to the lake soon, you should be preparred to look for them, and move with them as needed, just my .02. Hope this helps ya'll out.
