Early morning shallow, grass lines. Later deeper points. Lizzards and lipliss crank baits working over underwater structure/grass.

Just like Junkie said. The grass is everywhere, so just run the cranks over the top of the grass and the bass will nail it. Lizards and senko style plastics produced for me last weekend. Be sure you have decent line and your drag set cause those bass were strong.

Thanks guys this is great info! I tried to reserve a cabin at the park but they are all booked up. Any good hotels in the area that are boat friendly?

Not really boat friendly but Kieler's in Fayette is close and parking on the square is easy. Don't know their # but bring cash or a check to pay for the room they don't take credit cards

Last weekend and again today, the top water bite is STRONG early on and shallow. Pop-R's or Skitter Pop are the ticket; later on try texas rig with light weight with a dark color power worm in the timbered areas

I've found there is always a good top water bite at Fayette - that's the main reason I don't mind driving the 109 miles to get there and enjoy it. Noticed this morning there was several really good looking channels in the three finger timber area and we threw a Stanley Ribbit in deep and ran it out. Two missed it but it was exciting to anticipate. Ribbits make such a commotion. AND don't get me started on the Pop-R. Good pitch where you want it and twitch it and HANG ON! Never tire of it...Good luck!

fished fayette this past friday. Boated about 25 fish with 6 of them between 4 and 5 lbs. Also had a 7lber as well. All the fish we caught were in 20 ft of water on dropshot and shakeyhead plastics.

I was out there last Friday, too. Was disappointed in the early morning top water bite. I was really looking forward to it, but just caught 1 small one and a big perch. Late morning moved to a deep point (15' to 20') and did well with a plastic fluke and water dogs. Then moved to timber area at south end of the lake and did well in 12'. Total of 16 fish, biggest was 4.3 lb.
