I record hunt for big fish with Larry Dahlberg and he proposed a good generalization of fishermen...saying there were four phases of fishermen..
Phase 1- catch a limit
Phase 2- catch a big un'
Phase 3- catch several bigun's
Phase 4- catch them how you want to catch them
Ask yourself what kind of catfishermen are ya?
Obviously I'm biased in that I have to attempt to do several types for a living but this is more for yourself and curiosity.....

Phase 1!

Phase 5-Catch a limit of biguns.
Now...would that fall under the umbrella of #4?

I'm the type of catman that can't fish with Cliff as much as I'd like.

other than that, I'm #4. Spending the most amount of time fishing is more impprtant to me than the first three.

#4 for me

Depends on the day I suppose.

Primarily, phase 3. I am looking/hoping for the quality bite. I would be satisfied with one biggin, looking for more. Would much rather catch one 10 pounder than ten 1 pounders.

I'm gonna have to go with 3 $ 4. Now I'll be Phase 1 on crappie but that's a whole different story....

Phase 4, and release all but what I plan to cook that day.

For me catching a limit isn't what I set out to do.

When I fish for cats I'm mainly looking for some filets for the freezer, and if I catch enough to stink up the frying pan as they say, I'm satisfied.

That is usually during the colder months when I don't get to get out there and my freezer stash is running low because I've been out deer hunting for the last three months.

Definatley #2 but if I achieve that Im going for # 3

#2 now. Just looking for a good spot to get a big fat cat. My biggest to date is only 5 lbs 10 oz channel. Wanna get me a big blue or yellow. Caught good numbers lately thanks mostly to Jess.

I alternate between 1 and 2. I wish I could say 3 but my biggest is only 10lbs and thats just not big enough for my taste.
