To me a good day is anytime I can get out and fish with friends. Nothing better than catching a few fish and laughing with friends. wink

Just about any trip fishing is a good trip. As long as I catch one, I consider it a successful trip, cathing a limit is a great trip, and then catching several limits is an awesome trip! My trip of a lifetime was last summer on Texoma. Top water bite was on, had our limit before 8:00 and continued to catch over 100 all on top by noon! We left with thm still biting, we were just spent!

I've just like getting out there. The sun, the wind, the solitude...time on the water. Catching a few fish is an added bonus. I never regret spending a day on the water.

JV taking me and 2 other buddies out. We limit out on sand bass, stripers, hybrids, and crappie.

Then, we all sit around munching on Ding Dongs while JV cleans fish. smile smile

I had one version of a good day Saturday. Sat there with the lake almost to myself using the knowledge gained from frends, guides and friends who are guides.
As I was leaving the lake a father and son asked how and where I caught that nice stringer of crappie. I shared the info and adjusted it for them because they were bank fishing and I had been in the kayak. We exchanged business cards for some reason I forget...I got a phone call today thanking me for sharing the info. The son caught his first true "Slab" and the Dad was very excited about that.
That makes not only Saturday a great day, but all the days I spend learning from others great days too!

I've got three sons, 15, 12, and 9. Every time we've gone they don't talk about how well we did,or didn't do, or what the proper technique of the day was. To them a successul day seems to center around stopping at the convenience store on the way home to get a drink and a candy bar. Bet I've spent $100 on drinks and candy bars this year so far. Every dollar well spent.

From the sounds of it most are happy just getting out and wtting a line. I would agree. Last year a good day was a 20+ sandies. Some topwater or 100+ was a great day. Then I got on some striper one day and the sandies just weren't as fun anymore. Now I like to use what I've learned (here, from friends and by myself) to target whatever Im after that day. Learing something new and sharing with someone. My nephew got hooked on fishing from boatlods of sandies but like me, a good day of stripers (3+ each) is the new standard. Can't pass up schooling whites but would ignore easy limits of whites for a few big fish.

I imagine the next challenge is to do it with a fly rod or find the fish in seasons I just don't have figured out yet.

I really suck at golf - I played in a charity tournament once and on one of my drives, with a large crowd watching, I drove the ball hard and high but it did'nt even get past the 'ladies tee'. That same day I hit a nice drive on a par 3 that landed on the green and rolled to within 2 inches of the hole.

I recently bought my first boat and frankly I suck at fishing most of the time. We've all had days fishing that we tell our buddies about. You know the day that you caught something on every cast and practically had fish jumping in the boat but these days are few and far between for me anyway.

99.9% of the time I suck at golf and fishing, it's that .1% that keeps me coming back. It' just that one moment that can make a "good day".

Amen! I caught my PB striper in December of 2003 on a Storm Wildeye. He went 16.5 pounds.

I can still feel the tug and it motivates me to keep pounding the rocks at Texoma with lures when its so cold I'm breaking ice of the rod guides!

Saturday mornings on the way to the lake stopping by the county bakery in Snook for kolaches make for a successful day already! But spending Sunday afternoons with the kids way up in the creek catching bass and perch and tall trees in an adventure that we will remember the rest of their lives.
