How many people have actually turned their boats over? And how many people have been thrown out or at least thrown around? Never been thrown out or flipped, but have survived a bat turn a couple of times. Just have to let her settle down and then keep going. Kind of scary but I would not want to be strapped to the boat.

I agree on having handles for the passenger, maybe something so you can pull yourself down into the seat when your crazy fishing partner is trying to make you mess your britches! And how I wish I had HasBen's boat!!! I'd love to do 90 mph, well if I was driving anyways, gotta feel sorry for his passenger though.

Was just talking about this with a buddy. A seat belt would negate a kill switch. In the event of hitting rough water or taking a turn too fast and hitting your head on the console, you would have a boat running full blast with an unconcious driver at the helm. I believe for on the water applications for several reasons that the kill switch is a MUCH safer device than a seat belt.

OK guy's go easy on me here. First off I'm not a speed freak in a bass boat with that said I have seen non boaters and boaters fly out of bass boats in front of me while getting back to weight ins on time and going to a fishin hole,my butts been off of the seat way to many times rideing shotgun and driving, especially when I'm by myself. Sure your gonna say slow down. Again I'm not a speed freak. But what about when a boat "hooks" that dredded cruzer wake,or that guy who hits you in the front bow at the blind corner flying. My next bass boat will have seat belts. Thats right.A set for me and a set for my nonboater. Whatcha think? It would be a bad idea if the boat flips upside down and you get KO'ed.

Not buying into the seat belt idea at all. Like Ryan said, do not want an unconscious driver going full bore across the lake. Also do not want to be unconscious and go down with the ship. There is not a boat that will be doing 90mph with me in it so maybe I have a little less need for a seat belt than some other folks.

I know my tournament partner would love a seatbelt. He's squeezed the color out of the "Oh-S***!" handles.

One thing is for sure HASBEEN is msoking on the water at 90. I have been in a 2002 with a 280 and let me tell you when that guy hit 99MPH I looked like the Joker. Smile from here to here. Guess if I would have frowned we might have hit 100. But seatbelts are a dumb idea for a boat. 90% of the time racers or drivers that have blown over or flipped the boat have been knock completely out. Then u have an unguided missle running full blast. Even if the motor is sticking up in the wind the boat will go down rear firstand then u have a problem. But of course the motor may have run out of air by then. My $.02

I agree that seat belts in boats are not feasible, or at least that a feasible belt has not been designed.
On the other hand, I don't think guys who are driving fast, single console boats realize how scary the ride can be for their passengers. There's nothing quite like having your butt come six inches off the seat at 75-80 mph with nothing to hold you in the boat but the little plastic handle you have in your left hand.
Riding vs. driving are two entirely different perspectives.

Riding vs. driving are two entirely different perspectives. Truer words have not been spoken. Driving with both hands on the wheel and your foot on the hotfoot gives you a secure feel. I know when I fish with a guide and I am a passenger, it scares me from start to finish. There is just not enough handholds for me as a passenger. That being said, seat belts are not a good idea in a boat.

I've seen two boats go down and capsize in the blink of an eye. both boats where barely moving and got swamped over the back. I would hate to know my life depended on me getting theseatbelt off as the boat was rolling over.

All very good feedback and most very true. Lets hope never keel up and I still think 90% of the time your boat will land upright in a bad sitchy. www.millerpunchinweight.com
