I have lived in Wyoming before, it is beautiful. I would fish the lake with a nightcrawler and then go to little streams. Fish the streams with a nightcrawler or grasshopper. Try to stand back in the brush so the trout don't see you. Yes they are that scitterish. Just pitch it in the current or an eddy and let it float down it a little bit. You might want to add a small weight. You should catch brookies, browns and rainbows.

Father-n-law works in Wheatland Wyoming, (Southeast) and sent pictures last week when they got 7" of snow.
I spent 1 week last May in Yellowstone, awesome to say the least. Go spend some cash and get a good camera. You will take more pictures than you could ever imagine. Unreal place. Not to mention the drive from Southeast Texas to Yellowstone was fun in itself. (From Orange Texas to Cody, WY it took me 27hrs)
Have fun and enjoy

I'll add my two cents. I just got back from living in CO. Ultra light spinning reel with small inline spinners like Rooster tails or Panther Martins are a charm. Find a place with a descent current and let the lure go well down stream and then retrieve.
I will tell you this. MAKE SURE you get a WY fishing license. The fish and game folks are out in force there. They used to wait right on the CO state line for people to wade into WY and bust them.

I think its 14 and up needs a license. And a daily nonresident WAS $10. This was a couple years ago though.

Man that's pricey. Maybe you just fish a couple days and let the kid be the fisherman all trip.
