That is correct-and the above post is also correct about it not being a resort...one of my older friends might even call it a "tourist Court"...I think they just embellished the name to hopefully draw more business-but is's ok for a fishing motel...

smile smile Same here. We've called it that for over 30 years now and it's hard to call that place a "resort". smile I have pictures of me at Anglers Lodge that date back to the 70's. smile smile

There is a guy that rents trailer houses off of the main highway by Anglers Lodge and Amistad Lake "Resort" too. Very nice trailer houses with washer and dryer. Also has a covered carport with a BBQ grill. If you want the amenities of a "hotel", then the Ramada in town is what you would want. The only problem is that your boat is parked in the back parking lot and you can't see it from the room. Absolutely EVERYTHING has to be removed each night from your boat.

Is Ruthie's at Rough Canyon right off the river? How far down the river is the main lake?

Ruthie's is right before you get to the store at Rough Canyon to your right as you head toward the lake. The main lake is probably 3 miles from Rough Canyon ramp but, compared to most lakes you would think you are on the main lake.

We have stayed there a couple of times and the accomodations are really nice and it is really quiet. The only issue I have with it is the distance to the Rough Canyon ramp for launching. Laguna Diablo that is.

I think we stayed there many many years ago. Aren't they old rock houses? If so I thought they were great-view of the Devils while relaxing. It was more pricey but if you have a big party not so bad. There also used to be some trailer houses for rent at the Box Canyon. The old road was awful but now it is paved and an easy drive up there-paricularly if the wind is bad and you don't want to fight 3 foot rollers to get upriver....

Amistad Lake resort the one that Byron owns is a PIT. The rooms are old and seemed dirty. Anglers lodge is pretty decent and decent folks. When Velvick first bought it he put a few dollars in it and it wasn't bad. We stayed there this year and its gone downhill fast. I never saw the Bar/Resteraunt open when were there a couple of months ago. The rooms cost us 56 bucks a night which is cheap but you get what you pay for. I will not stay there again unless it gets cleaned up a bit.

They do seem to cater to the big tourneys-we were there once during the Bassmaster Elite tourney and of course everything was shipshape-Anglers has been a meeting place for many of the guides over the years and they are friendly. I know it got ratty years ago and hopefully it has been cleaned up and fixed up....
