I am curious how most of y’all crappy fisherman and fisherwoman like to store your crappies when fishing? I personally like to put them in a metal basket (with round plastic floaty on top) and leave them in the water.

We use the metal basket as well. Stringing them causes them to die quicker - IMO.
Since fishing is a sport, I guess that makes us athletes...

In the boat in the livewell with ice or at the slip in a wire basket.

And even on 100 degree days, I'll plug the livewell, add a scoop of bait saver and throw in a frozen water bottle about every hour & a half or so. They're frisky enough I have to stick them in the frig for a couple of hours before they'll hold still enough to filet.

I use a cooler with cubed ice to keep the fish fresh. I don't like using the livewell. The fish are easier to clean when they are not "livewell alive" at the dock...

if i am in the boat i like the ice chest method. it is a whole lot cleaner and no worry. if i am walking the creek bank fishing then my favorite is to use a 5 gallon bucket. turtles and snakes are pretty rough on fish that are on a stringer and can tear up a basket. i keep my jigs, skirts, and bobbers with anthing else i may need in my overalls. travel as light as you can because if you come out with a bucket full you will need all the energy you have (i do cause im getting a little older). if you are going very far with them then have an ice chest with ice at the vehicle. ice down fish are also easier for me to clean also. thanks

seeing as how i wade fish almost all year, i use a stringer. i have yet to have any fish die on it tis year. i push the poker part under the jaw under the lips and out through the mouths. i never stick it trough the gills due to that makes them die super fast.
Tip: use and old milk jug plastic top and take the poker part on the stringer, and poke it trough the middle of the jug top. push it all the way to the end to the circle. this way you dont have to fumble around with the fisrt fish and makes for an easy removal of the fish at the end of the day. they slip right off.

Basically what he is saying is take the top from a milk jug. Push the stringer through the milk jug top and run it all the way down the stringer to the metal ring. Then when you catch your fish you just start putting them on the stringer without having to loop the metal spike through the metal ring on the first fish...then when you are ready to take them off the stringer they just all slide off.

back in the day, , we would catch crappie until no more would fit in the basket, and I remember the basket being a lot larger then.
