They have the horn that sounds when the gates are gonna open, dont they? Sheer stupidity on his part. Sorry to say, go ahead and berate me, but that was just complete carelessness when the gates start to open.

on the kentucky lake dam, and its a great spot but its freeky looking beyond the holes and seeing a huge drop and the water... i have never fished it when the gates are down below water level but its still freeky as all get out

Another "funny" part of this story is the guys clothes were ripped off by the force of the water as he was washed over the dam. He finally got to shore about 1 mile down stream near some UT student housing. He made it out of the lake and wandered up to a young woman's back door to ask for help. Remember, he's naked at the time. The lady had heard all the sirens, believed his story and gave him something to wear until the paramedics arrived. He was a very lucky guy and learned a valuable lesson about not taking a boat that had just been serviced out for a test run during a flood.

Dams scare me anyways. I try to stay clear of any kind of places like that. And for good reason. Stay away from them or any other type of machinery in the water.
